I was wondering if there was any talk about getting a reserve skill trainer(have a skill to be trained on standby if you don't select one after a minute that you current skill has been trained) I think this could be applicable, for the simple fact if there is a problem with either the server or the client(an unexpected error) so that there isn't that much of time waste while the server or client is down(because you can't train a skill if you can't get into the game)
Has there been any talk about this?

It'd be very nice, but after all this time of saying "NO!!!!!1111oneoneeleven" I doubt it'll be implemented.

i remember one thing the devs mentioned implementing was the ability to train more than one skill at once all would finish at the end of their combined durations
i think it's in a CSM somewhere in response to someone asking about skill queing ... __________________________________________

I suppose this discussion must have been conducted right when EVE was first created, so I missed it...but what is CCP's reason for not allowing us to just arrange all the skills we want trained into a queue that automatically trains one after the other? It's not like this is difficult to implement or would mess up gameplay... ___________________________________________ ^^^***---All things serve the Beam---***^^^ GDBT is recruiting! |

The idea is to promote people logging in. _Playing_ the game AFK training is bad.
Imagine a MMO re-seller shop: buy about 500 accounts, queue up 6 months of skills, sell them on ebay after those 6 months. Each month repeat, maybe adding on 12 month characters as well.
You'd make a ton of real life money for absolutely zero effort.
Besides, why do people complain about missing out on some skill training time? Go play a normal level grind MMO where you NEVER advance unless actually playing. Its about a billion times more annoying.

Just to be able to set the next one, as per the original suggestion, would perhaps be an agreeable compromise? Trak Cranker |

It's not really an agreeable comprimise. If you don't want to login to change a skill, then you lose out. If you can't login, then you lose a little. If you know in advance you won't be able to login, you should set a long skill training (everyone has them)
btw, i've probably lost more skill training time than anyone through forgetfulness, and I still wouldn't change the system as it stands now.
AFK skill changing is bad, mkay!

But why should you have to? Sometimes **** happens in RL, why should that interfere with skill training? There are people who wake up in the middle of the night, ****ed off 'cuz they just realized that they have skill training to switch. Why should that be considered an "important part of the game" or something? It's just plain ANNOYING, nothing else. ___________________________________________ ^^^***---All things serve the Beam---***^^^ GDBT is recruiting! |

Yes, just plain annoying to be confronted by your inability to plan things properly

Though Eve's skill training is realtime, logging in should be encouraged.

So we limit the queue to only selecting the next skill, nothing more. Whatever. Either way, be it no skill queue, skill queue limited to the next skill only, or an unlimited skill queue, this isn't going to cause or prevent "ISK farming sweatshops". And even if it DID, ****ing off normal customers who play by the rules, just to make up for their inablity to enforce their own rules, is no solution.

Are you saying that nothing unexpected has EVER happened in real life that affected when you had access to EVE? If so, I pity you for having no life, and I envy you for having the most bulletproof, 100% reliable ISP in the world. ___________________________________________ ^^^***---All things serve the Beam---***^^^ GDBT is recruiting! |

As for the skill training, a trusted friend who's also using Character Manager can help at difficult unavailable times..

Against the EULA.
And I don't see how having a single skill queued up would help ISK farmers that much.

I think this would be a alright thing, just make it so you can only que 1 skill, and make it an hour wait or some thing? So it is still better to change the skill by your self but if some thing in reallife happens and you cannot change it for a week so instead losing week worth of time only losing 1 hour? :)
Every time this thread comes up, its about stupid people that sell there accounts on ebay? Seriosuly if there people that already running 5...10..15 accounts just training? This wouldn't make any differnt. Its not that hard to login an account just to change the skill. This would save the people that do this i dunno 5 mins? (changing 20 accounts) WHOOHOO! 5 mins omg! ya.. People still already do that just training then selling, putting in a feature like this wouldn't add any more.
