What is the point of waiting for 20 seconds to get into another ship when docked? It can't be loading cause you do that when you dock. I'm really curious why we have to wait about 20 seconds to switch ships.
It's really just an annoyance.
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW LONG 20 SECONDS IS!?! -----------------------------------------------

A long time aog you could do it all instantly. Sadly this lead to errors in the eve data base that lead to alot of server reboots etc before they tracked the problem down.
The 20 second session change ensures that all related database entries get updated correctly.
I have the body of a supermodel. I just can't remember where I left it... |

Finally, a method to all this madness! -----------------------------------------------

I think it's to stop people docking and then undoccking in another ship really quickly, though I can't really see much point in this. It might be for if someone were chasing you to the station. Say you were in a shuttle and they were in something that aligns slower to warp like a cruiser, then they followed you in warp to the station, only to see that you'd docked, switched to a battelship and undocked. BOOM, they're all dead.

Once upon a time people would try to switch ships before the game was ready for them to do it, thus did many people become "stuck" and many petitions were filed, then did the powers that be implement the timers and the petition que returned to less mountain-like proportions. . ----- Apologys for any rambling that may have just occurred.

Another exploit would be your shield recharge.
Low shield and cap? Warp to station, dock, your cap is full. Change ship, change back. Shield is full, because the game doesnt keep track of passive shield recharge when the ship isnt active.

That answers my question regarding gangs, ejecting and a host of other things.

Thats what I assumed to what it was, but I bet this doesnt imply to the target invulnerable thing. I imagine thats so someone with loads of lag wont wake up in a clone station though it still happens.

No kidding! Imagine if somebody cloned you enough times that you and your clones could run the docks in every station in the galaxy, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. With that many copies of you running around, I bet you've have problems that would lead you to the bottle pretty damn quick! ___________________________________________ ^^^***---All things serve the Beam---***^^^ GDBT is recruiting! |

Maybe your all wrong and its just the time the server needs to load the new ship into the database.
