I resubbed to EVE about a week ago and I've learned that they've given new AI to mission NPC's. I haven't done a mission yet because my only mission boat I've ever used is a sentry dominix. I have played with sleeper's and know just how picky they are with drones. My concern is - is my domi going to be worth doing missions in any more? I don't want to have scoop a drone every 5 sec to do a mission, that's just a huge pain in the ass.
If the domi is condemned to this new fate, what other options are popular now? I can fly Minm and Gall battleships, and then every t2 bc and down. Back before I took a break from EVE I remember most turret boats were very much inferior to missile ships, but I don't have any cruise or torp skills so I'm kinda SoL on that.
Right now I'm considering trying a mega, tempest, mael, maybe tengu, maybe nighthawk (or domi too, if it's not as bad as people are saying. I really really do not want to have to baby sit sentries all day though either). I could really use the advice because I'm starting to need isk again =D |

I did 6 missions the other night without losing aggro to my drones. Including full stage aggro in WC by shooting the spy (not by the warp in trap in the off-race side).
I lost a couple when there were full stage aggro bugs in december, but a domi with 5x350mm guns that is self repping irritates npc's pretty seriously, and if you snipe frigates first, its unlikely you'll subsequently get sentry aggro.
if you don't shoot from your domi then yes I can imagine drone aggro is difficult or unplayable. |

Did or tried to do lvl4-s with domy navy issue yesterday with my perfect skilled gallente drone/bs alt. (needed gallente standing)
Oh god... it was so annoying that I just went and sold domi+whole fit
CBA really... they damp, they target drones, sentrys... it's just not worth it
CCP had really crewed up this time.. it's not by any means fun wasting time in lvl4-s waiting till ships get into lock range AND THEN theres 999999 damps which make you target 10km max. WHOOPYDOO how fun is that? |

do you try to use E-war with the Domi?
That usualy draws the rats back to the main ship, Rats hate that. |

Use smaller drones first and focus rats from smallest to biggest, exchanging your drones for bigger ones everytime a certain size of rats is wiped out.
I do agree, though, sometimes it's a pain. I've had times when rats would unlock me the second I deployed my drones. |

Here's a fun suggestion for you, OP:
1. Micro Jump Drive (draws Liang Nuren aggro. Also, jumps your ship about 100km away from rats)
2. Sentries, boosted as close to 100km range as possible (this way, your sentries can pick targets as they approach)
3. A bit of tank, the rest pure gank. This will help you increase the damage output as you're now sitting far from the rats.
Works like a charm, tried and tested especially on Rattlesnake. Alternately, use some kind of ewar or utility (such as target painter), as that seems to reduce the rate at which NPCs charge at your drones. |

My current fit does include a rack of 350's so this is good news - thank you 
So I'll check out this MJD thing, but when was this implemented? It's a whole new thing to me. And are there any other mission boat suggestions out there? Is the mega any good? tempest, maelstrom, nighthawk (maybe tengu, but they cost an assload) |

I have to admit I haven't tried missioning with drones lately, but there's enough info around about avoiding drone aggo, it seems to work. You mentioned minmatar skills so... Mach might be a good selection since it seems to be the pve fotm ATM with good range/dps/speed/capless turrets.
Mjd is pretty neat bc it ignores rat warp disrupters and teleports you 100km away. Most mission ships are capable of 100km range and since rats want to approach you directly, turrets/sentries pretty much pick them apart. At that point it's pretty much a range/gank tank with some repping for backup. |

Like someone already said, EWAR is one way to go. I use no such thing on my Rattlesnake and I clear rooms fast and without drone aggro issues.
I only use light drones for close orbiting frigs, sentries for the rest. Just make sure to fit an omni or 2.
Also the Maelstrom is an awesome lvl 4 boat. If u decide to move away from drones Id highly recommend the Mael. |

Thank you for the drone encouragement for being the first person to advocate anything other than a drone boat. I was messing with Mael fittings and was trying to decide if I should go arty or AC fit? |

AC for Angels and Arty for the rest I suppose. U will sometimes have to deal with using light drones anyway (if u are not able to pop frigs on approach). Work out your best frig range, if they pass it just stop cycling those guns and shoot something else, w8 for frigs to settle in orbit and deploy lights. I appreciate it. Missions were never hard back when I used to play, but I also did C6 wh stuff and know how rough the good AI can be so I was worried drone aggro would be insurmountable. This thread has put my worries at ease though. I guess its time for me to finally earn some isk =D |
