If you got to gate.eveonline.com,right column, titled headline news. He's saying the articles there are really old and wants new ones I think. Hope that helps |

Actually, after I click "Play" on the Launcher, I still get a brief flash of the "Inferno" splash screen.

Also, logged in, my Eve Gate news (on the character selection screen) is as the OP stated: horribly, laughably, out-of-date.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check if we just want to disable this news channel or have it auto update from somewhere else or something. It's pretty obvious that we haven't been using it for a while and even though I doubt many get their news fix from there, it doesn't look good like this :)
Nowadays we put all Community directed news on the Community page , some news goes in the launcher and then we use social media to spread it as needed.

While obviously nobody is getting their news fix from there, many, many people uses EvEgate.
And as soon as you fire up the site, there they are: terribly updated "news" which are detrimental to the company image and EvE in general.
Looks bad.
It's just a column of links and snippets, and you at CCP produce quite a lot of them. Facebook, blogs, etc...there is plenty of material for (at least) a monthly update or something. Shouldn't be too difficult. |

agreed, nearly everyone i know sits on EVE gate at work and it would be nice to have some up to date news on the main page, some of the rolepalying stuff, FW news, sovereignty changes ect ect.

You guys should have soundwave record daily news announcements to be played over loudspeakers in our cq.
There's nothing worse than an EVE player, generally considered to be top of the food chain in the MMO world, that cannot smacktalk with wit and coherency. |

I don't even see that page anymore. When I log into EvE Gate I have it set to go straight to my main character.
This is the same EvE Gate that everybody steadfastly asserted would never be used by anyone right? 
To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors.
If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

It would be fantastic if it offered skill queue access and the other above mentioned things as were originally promised.
edit: When EVE gate was obviously borked upon release, with hindsight it was a definite harbinger of what was coming down the road soon with "Incarna".

I'll agree with that, it was pretty buggy at first.
Now however it is stable and useful, with the potential to become much more so.

Oh, and just how out of touch is CCP with the game, when they don't know they have a dead news feed?

Obviously it needs to be adjusted, but I personally don't know too many people that go to that page by default. Usually they have it set to go to their main chacters page because it has information relevant to them. So yes, they missed a rarely used web page... not good but it happens.
I wouldn't mind it if they put an (up to date) news feed on our personal pages as well though.
