Ivresse sank back in his pod as he set the auto-pilot to its destination, hammering the afterburners as he approached the jump-gate. Even with the five cargo-hold expanders installed into his Iteron Mk. V, he was determined to get as much speed out of this ship as possible. He was on the second leg of his three-run transportation trip and was determined to get the bonus.
He still couldnÆt believe it, reduced to a trucker. He hadnÆt involved himself in spaceflight much before everything changed. Once the proud owner of DUI racing, a successful entertainment corporation that organised races and gambling opportunities throughout the four empires, he had an enjoyable life as a businessman, sorting out racing ventures, organising betting for his races, and fraternising with many celebrities of the Holofilm and sports circuit. His proudest moment during those days was organising the betting for the Caldari Championships so long ago, earning hundreds of millions of ISK.
Then things changed. The Concord ship modification bureau passed an edict forbidding the instalment of more than one Afterburner or Micro-warp drive on a vessel. Ships designed purely for racing had to be redesigned for far slower speeds than they were capable of, and the thrill of speeding through jumpgates at more than 5000 m/s became nothing more than a memory. People became less interested in the slower races that occurred, and less people were participating, much less gambling in them. The final straw was that IvresseÆs clone twin, the racer among DUI, Matt Ivresse, was killed while testing a new underground Microwarp drive on his interceptor, crashing into a moon so quickly that the podÆs brain-scanner was unable to register MattÆs brain pattern in time before the scanner systems became part of the charred, bloodied patch on the surface. DUI went into Liquidation, and Ivresse had to rethink his futureà
Now here he was, transporting goods and cargo around Gallente. With the threat of peace amongst the empires fading ever more rapidly, there would always be opportunities amongst traders, particularly from corporations and organisations that wanted to get into a better position against their rivals. He had a soft spot for the Minmatar organisations desperately trying to free their people from slavery, but did not wish to join the politics of such a cause...yet. He had plenty of money to purchase the best transport ships and modifications, he had wisely saved up his fortune from his DUI days. Plus, his contacts and reputation amongst the Gallente agents was able to provide him with relatively profitable missions. Unfortunately, he had little knowledge and experience of cargo-hauling. He was unlikely to gain it for solo cargo runs through space, he needed to join a guild that specialised in cargo transportation and hauling. Such matters would wait. He had arrived at his destination, only one more leg to go transporting Metal Scraps between two stations. Not glamorousàbut it paid enoughà
(OOC: Basically, ex-racing organiser whoÆs just come back to Eve wishes to join an RPing corporation that deals mainly in transportation and haulage. WonÆt join any corporations that deals with pro-slavery views, but will listen to all offers. Looks forward to hearing any potential job offers you may have.)
