Well, i am the bm slave in my corp - well knowin i got a fetish there they force me to make em for the corp and so im doing em, but today i found a terribly bug/feature, implemented with the last patch:
The bm set has about 1300 bms. you have to, since some time alrdy, mark every bm, one by one, and drag em into a cargo hold or something.
the problem i have now is, that the bms get unmarked after u drag em - thats a nightmare!
before i could open 5 trade windows, or shuttle cargoholds, mark the bms and drag em over and wait then
now id have to mark the bms drag, marke the bms and drag..
ofc its not an option with 1-2k bms
if any1 has a solution id be rlly happy to hear it, ah btw: marking 30bms drag em 30 again ina big set wont work too, cause u dont see whats been the last bm u dragged cause bms get unmarked..

well you could make the selection. Drag them into a can to copy once. make a copy folder, drag the canned bm's in there select all in bm's in the copy folder and drag-copy them to the next can, tradewindow or whatever. as they are all in one folder reselecting them should not be much of a problem.
I know it is an extra step, but it should work like this

hum you'r really a slave to doing it one per one...
me i use this technik : SHIFT pressed Click on the 1st BM on you'r folder in ppl & place Click on the LAST bm of you'r folder Drag & drop into you'r can After you see the 1st bm appear in you'r can release the **** key Go eat, run or whatever you want :D
At the en look at the number of Bm in you'r can (title of the can) and you'r ppl & place ... you must be ok :p
really easest method !
one by one OH MY GOD !!! :p

A bunch always end up missing for me after the patch, its a ***** now. I had to copy about 5 region BMs about 30-40 at a time and it was horrible.

It works for me too most of the time, but I guess the tip is not to copy 100 or 500 at a time but to use a lot of different folders and copy one folder at a time - so 10 or 30 Bookmarks at a time, maximum. Can take a while and give headaches, but it proves really usefull...
(not sure I understood the original poster's pb tho? )

I've had the same problem with an especially large set of 1500-odd BMs I've tried to copy - the most I've ever gotten out of an attempt was about 1200, and there seemed to be no pattern as to which ones were missing.
One day if I can be bothered, I'll try and break it down into smaller subsets. Maybe order the set alphabetically and do a few letters of the alphabet at a time or something...?

The highlight that indicates that an object is selected doesn't always seem to work. I've noticed this on the escrow screen too. It looks like something isn't selected, when in fact, it really is. Annoying bug - should probably report it, eh?

Edited by: Ertai Vodalion on 18/07/2005 13:25:15 When copying the BMs I sort my people & Places by number of jumps away - and then choose all BMs that are 20 jumps away at one go( or take 20 - 23 jumps if the number isn¦t to big to be copied)
thus it¦s more easy to see what you copied when the marker vanishes ...
you could too use a pen and a paper - write down the last BM you marked - and then take a look at your paper before you copy the next bunch - use your brain ?

Look, I manage about 2800 BMs for AM.
The SHIFT, select all, drag option does work, but NOT with over a thousand. The process will stall or not finish every time.
You need to select your first one, then shift-select till you have about 400 or so. Make sure you leave that last one highlighted so you can know where to pick up when you're done. Do them in batches of this size and you should be alright.

Dont copy more than 1000 bookmarks at once. Just dont.
I have had a number of instances both pre and post patch then bookmarks was missing afterwards and I had to start it over again.

I am losing BMks every time I try to copy over 80 or so at a time. I have solved the problem 2 ways. The easiest short term is to have both your bookmarks and your cargo hold set to disply alphabetically by name. Then drag 66 or so at a time. You can then confirm that you got the last one in order and can shift-select the next set based on alphabetical order in the can and ppl/places. Did this last night, worked perfect.
Now, since there seems to be a magic number, I have simplified by live even more by breaking my BMks sets up. So I might have "Domain 1 (65 total bookmarks)" "Domain 2 (65 total)" and Domain 3 (70 total bookmarks) for a total of 200.
I tried this a few times last night and it's perfect for the corp bookmark slave (me too, btw :P). You can fill a can for 200 BMks in 3 sets of shift-drags, and it's never off one iota.
Granted, with 1K or more BMks this is a slow process, but at least it's not too labour intensive once you set it up, as shift-drags then work fine. It also means no lost or missing BMks, something that is worth a bit of extra effort.
BTW, I've started keeping small cans with every set of my bookmarks now before a patch, just in case I have to fully nuke my cache and lose my folders. I find with tons of folders I need this badly.

Edited by: Blargle on 18/07/2005 22:28:01 Do not release shift until all copies have moved. If you keep holding shift until all your copies have moved (look at the items count in the can title) then all is well.
Also as stated, do not try to move 2000 bm's at once. The more you try to move in one batch, the longer it takes per bm on average. Don't know why, I didn't code it :-P
Moving about 2 hundred at a time seems to work fast and reliably.
To keep track of numbers, create a temp folder, _MOVE_ your bm's there first to be sure of how many you are going to copy then move them back after you have copied the batch.
Addendum: actually removing bm's you are not using in the near folder into a can (not copying) wil reduce the number of bm's you have (duh) and actually spead up the loading of that list (and when right-clicking in space, and when moving bm's in, and when copying, and when making a new bm....)
Keeping the total bm's in your P&P to under a thousand will also make a HUGE difference on the database server, and probably make you some friends on the ccp database team :-)
Cheers

Copying them from your places folder - Do not try to copy more than 99 at a time. I know it sucks but I've tried it and it messes up more often than not.
Creating multiple sets - get some small cans. While in station, open 3 or 4 of them. Choose about 99 bookmarks. Click and drag the 99 bookmarks to each of the cans. Then, choose another set of 99 bookmarks starting from where you left off and repeat until you have completed the set. Now you will have 4 sets of instead of just one set. This method takes a while but you will NEVER have missing bookmarks causing you to restart the set from the beginning. ------------sig--------------------------- Regions for Sale Heimatar - Released.
