I've made two alts for trading and related things and ran into the "problem" that you have to manually set it up per character, I know that you can import&export the overview but is there a way to copy over the exact window settings, Neocom icons and such? |

Long answer, EVE keeps settings files in C:\Users\yourlogon\LocalSettings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\Tranquility or somesuch, with LocalSettings being a hidden system folder.
You can try to copy the "good" .dat files over the "bad" .dat files. Problem is that the files are named with serial numbers rather than character / account names. |

Click the 'Start Button' (This is based on Windows Vista/7) Type '%appdata%' and press enter. Navigate to /AppData/Local/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility/settings There are 2 ".dat" files per character. One named "core_char_xxxxxxxx.dat" and the other "core_user_xxxxxxxx.dat Use the modification date to determine which two match the set-up character Log-in to the un-setup character and rename a copy of the set-up characters files to the names of the un set-up toons files.
EVE mail me if you need help!
P.S. It's a right pain in the backside and makes my head hurt every time I set these up. http://www.dark-therapy.com Sov Holding, PvP Alliance |

It worked!
Took a bit to figure it out and it's rather silly you have to do it like this, but it worked and that's all that matters. Now the Neocom is in the same order and the windows act in the same way. Thanks |

Not true.
You can copy about anything from one client to another (see posts below the quoted one). Buddy invite offer Corporation Recruitment |

I do this with my 4 accounts.
One easy way to keep track of them is to make copies of the files, then rename the copies. For instance I have a folder filled with core_user_xxxxxxx.dat and core_char_xxxxxxxxx.dat, and core_user_xxxxxxx (copy).dat and core_char_xxxxxxxxx (copy).dat
Rename the (copy) files, and append the name of the character that file is for...so in my case core_user_xxxxxxx (joe astor).dat and core_char_xxxxxxxxx (joe astor).dat
EVE won't access them, because it never looks for them, so you can use them as 'backups' like I do, and it also helps you keep track of which .dat files to copy, or copy over, when changing overview and window settings between characters.

AS other has pointed out, eve dosent have any sensible way to share settings between even characters on same account. Too bad they dont make export/import tool for it. Added bonus points for ability make full backups for bookmarks, etc... [Insert something funny or smart here]

Added bonus points for ability make full backups for bookmarks, etc... Settings used to be account-wide. People b*tched and moaned about it ... and now settings are character-specific. The switch only happened a few expansions ago. |
