When an NPC or player hits me with something, I get a message that tells me how much damage they just did.
WHY, oh WHY, is it SOOOO hard to include the TYPE of damage in that message.
"Serpentis Elder perfectly strikes you for 500 damage"
versus
"Serpentis Elder perfectly strikes you for 500 thermal damage"
WHY is this SOOOO difficult to implement? We've been asking for it for nearly two years now.

I think you would find that it would be like this.
Serpentis Elder perfectly strikes you for 234.5602678 thermal damage Serpentis Elder perfectly strikes you for 010.0001768 kinetic damage Serpentis Elder perfectly strikes you for 056.3434234 explosive damage Serpentis Elder perfectly strikes you for 250.3432453 EM damage
by the time all his (if player) skills and modules AND your skills and modules had gone to work on the shot.
Whilst I too would like the data after the event I can't say I would want that showing up on my screen.

yeah, serp rats hit ya fr 2 dmg types, therm an kin, id rather not be message smpammed (cna you iamgine the minmatar rats and rougue drones that do all 4 kinds of damage?)... jus look at the ship and weapon, and it will usualy tell you what yr beign hit with... is it a laser? obviously its EM an therm... is it a hybrid shot? kin an therm, missiles? they each have a different color, easy to ID, only rogue drones and minmatar rats are hard to tell what yr being hit with, and you can see that on eve-i.com _____________________________ Honor Glory And Strength! Sorry, I misled you a bit.
I'm far more concerned about PVP for this feature than NPC rats. And, of course, I would want it presented in a HUD-friendly manner. Frankly, I think the current system sucks. They should ladder down the left side of the screen instead of the middle. There should be five or so "slots" for these messages and they should remain on the screen and quickly fade while subsequent messages go under them in sequence.

let me introduce you to my friend- The Log, it can be found both in your EVE folder, and ingame! ingame it will only clear after you leave yr ship, dock, or jump (note leaving yr ship includes it being blown up).. after that it still is in the EVE folder
id rummage through mine and grab a piece of a log, but im at work... so no eve folder here.... _____________________________ Honor Glory And Strength! Honor Above Self Glory For Self Strength Of Self

I support this idea. The one box in upper/center of screen is distracting & does not keep up with what is actually happening.

I too would love to see something like this. While the log is a good tool it can't be used very well in battle as entries are moving rather quickly then and I usually find myself too tied up to look it over. It certainly would be nice to have something to tell me, at a glace, why my drones refuse to attack or why my ship can't warp out.
