Is there any way to trade in your old ship for a new one like you can in Freelancer? I cannot find anywhere that allows this.

From the person you buy your next ship. There are deals to be made. You can straight out buy your ship, bring minerals and have your ship built for you, or sometimes people do trade-ins. All your ship buys will be from other players. Lastly you can build your own ship. Buy an original blueprint from market or buy a copy of a ships blueprint from another player.

If ur in a copr give them your old ship for a newer player to use.
We currently have about 10 of each newbie ship shirkwrapped and stacked in our corp hanger as NO One flys them anymore, and we cant recycle them or even dump them.

Why not use the old ships as shuttles... I know you can only use each ship once that way but it saves shelling out for a shuttle. :)

Why not use them for shuttle?
I did. now my list of stations holding my property is endless. I have probs to find the stations i have stuff in i really wanna hold.
And opening a bureau just to have a corp hangar to throw the noob ships in isnt that rational.

Of course that's the downside, but what do you expect for being such a cheapskate instead of using a ****tle... <wink, wink>
You could always hire people do go and collect your old ships back again in the courier screen. :)

Na just put it on full speed and eject, then watch as it sails away into deep space. -----
We take care of our own. |

Just melt then down for their ore rather then destroy them. OK that won't work with a noob ship, but if you want rid without the hassle of trying to sell them just put them in the pot and grind them up.
I do that all the time, but not by intention most of the time <g>

If you don't like the pod floating through space... board them the reboard your ship and they will disappear
