Edited by: Jalia Kovac on 20/07/2005 14:24:56 Edited by: Jalia Kovac on 20/07/2005 14:23:31 Hi there,
Been thinking seriously about training for a HAC lately. Anyone out there with experience in both Gallente and Amarr HACs?
Just to give some perspective...
Used to drive a Thorax and loved it (particularly as a blaster boat). Now, drones were superbly useful and the Deimos lacks the same punch there obviously. I've trained a lot more in Amarr recently and have T2 lasers trained nicely but my hybrid training is lacking at the moment. I like the look of the Zealot's 7 low slots (which eclipses the Deimos) but it has fewer weapon hardpoints than either the Deimos or the Sacrilege. What's a armour-tanking, drone crazy, blaster/pulse lover to do?

I've heard good things about the Ishtar. Considering some of the stuff you said you love, I wouldn't discount it. ---

Get an ishtar
Deimos is uber as longas u can get close. Zealot is a bit more flexible but cant deal as much damage and tank aswell as a deimos (at the same time, i know it can tank, i know it can do damage but the deimos can do both pretty well at the same time). Sacriledge is a great tank but taranis does more damage
Ishtar pwns them all btw, specially once u get tech2 drones

Thanks for the response guys. Wow, overwhelming support for the Ishtar. Not a bad stepping stone on the way to a Carrier too I guess.

Zealot -> Mini gankageddon with abit tank
Sacrilege -> Best tank below BS Class
Deimos -> Fast damage dealer
Ishtar -> Mini Domi
I love my Zealot cuz it can be fast with a T2 AB, tank very good and does extreme damage with T2 pulse lasers and HAC lvl3. A Sacrilege with 3x Nos (Suckrilege) is almost unbeatable by any other HAC. They are even dangerous for tanked BSs. Hope that helps. ---------------------------------------------

Hell yeah, Zealot. 700+ dmg with a 2 sec ROF makes up for the 4 turret hardpoints believe me. Mine can get an officer tank down as fast as you can say "PWND". training HAC 5 as we speak and then medium spec 5 ^^

I personally fly the Zealot and would recommend the Amarr HACs to anyone. I was having similar problems deciding whether or not I wanted to fly a Deimos or Zealot, but I finally settled on the Zealot for its flexibility.
There are a very wide range of setups the Zealot can use. The Deimos does deal more damage, but as many have said on the forums: "It's a one trick pony."
Consider these factors in choosing your HAC: - What skills do you currently have? Are you more Amarr specialized or Gallente specialized at the moment? - What style of combat do you enjoy? Do you like ripping others to shreds at point blank range or would you rather have more flexibility with where you can engage?

And what would be your setup for taking down these officer spawns? :)

Only once you've run out of ALLL other skills that increase damage to train. If it's to get that last bit of damage from your boat and you focus heavily on dishing out the pain, yeah it's worth it.

Well I'm training Heavy Assault Ships 5, and as with Alpha, I have all the other damage skills trained, but I'm not going to train Medium Blaster Spec to 5, or Small Railgun Spec to 5. I'd much rather train for a Vagabond or Interceptors than to have 2% more damage on one ship to be honest o.O

Thats the great thing though, you "could" train up for another ship... or you could take the extreme in speci of one perticular type of weapon.. imagin the finnal amount of total damage you could pump out

About 10dps extra against a completely unhardened target. No thanks. In my opinion, the spec skills should be changed so that the bonus is the same as the level you have it at: training level 5 gives an extra 5% while level 1 gives only 1%. Then it'd actually be worth the time.

The sacrilage is a fantastic ship for group work in my experience.
It makes an excellent backup for tacklers having a hard time when you get up close with nos's and warp scrambling. That said it's damage output truely is woeful compared to any other hac so if you want to go solo you CAN kill a target, it just may takea while to do it.
I have the body of a supermodel. I just can't remember where I left it... |

Zealot can fit 10MN MWD2, 4 heavy beams II and full assortment of HS2/Tracking enhancers and hit really nice speeds to keep stuff at distance (assuming advanced weapons upgrade 4 and all related skills at 5, weapons upgrades, engineering etc)
Plus, kitted with sensor booster/tracking comp 2 can snipe at 92km on radios with inty-AF busting power while on 5 HS2/2 tracking enhancers
Your Heavy Neutron Blaster II perfectly strikes Serpentis Chief Sentinel, wrecking for 660.4 damage.

I'd suggest the Ishtar too, can't say I personally fly one (I, being the genius I am, trained Caldari HACs figuring eventually they'd get a buff that hasn't come), but I have seen them in action and they can do some AMAZING stuff.

I'm undefeated in my ishtar to date. Any hac will die with relative ease. A medium sized frig/inty squadron will die with ease. Battleships, as long as they dont nos you, will die with ease.
Probably the best HAC in game.
/me strokes his 14 heavy drones.

I fly both the Zealot and the Deimos. The zealot has an amazing capacity for dealing damage and maintaining a tank, as long as you know what to put on it. Stay away from the sacrilege however, nowhere near as good as either a deimos or a zealot

A properly setup sacriledge will kill you deimos every time.

Once I got all other gunnery support skills ( save adv. weapon upgrades cause I don't need it ) trained up to max, I'll train up med blaster spec to 5 and gallente drone spec to 5. But I only fly gallente, and my deimos about 90% of the time if not more so. The way I run her I can only tank like 100 raw dps on average, damage is how I survive and every little bit will help. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

Whilst the raw dps of a Sacrilege is low, don't forget that if you're using Nosferatus your opponent's tank won't last as long.

I'm a gallente hac user, and actualy i'm realy loving my deimos...
For exemple, a ion fit with 5 t2 ion, 5 mag stab + 1 tech2 repper leave u with an enormous DPS and very good tank vs kin/therm.
Obviously if u want be a bit covered u shoul fit 1 adaptive tech2 and maybe 1 explo hardener, thath way you are tanked in all dmg with good resist.
My corp mate have a zealot and sacrilege, we made a lot of 1 vs 1 and my skill are a bit better than him, but well the only time i had problem was vs a 3 nosferatu sacrilege fitting, and btw i had enormous cap problem but the sac was unable to damage me very much.
With a deimos HAC lvl5 is damn useful, not only for the 5% dmg but the real difference is the Falloff, with hac4 u can hit with ions at 7-8km with "decent" hits, i will for sure train lvl5 hac asap...
Isthar is very fun, and hac vs hac with vampire setup give a lot of trouble to your enemy :D
(sorry for the crap english)
