Hi according to http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Raven_%28Fitting%29 a mission Raven should include: 1x X-Large Shield Booster II 0-1x Shield Boost Amplifier II
Since my skills for operating those items is insufficient at the moment, I'd like to know whether the T2 versions are nice-to-have or essential (Could I still solo lvl 4 missions with T1?!)
Thanks, Sid |

Use a C5-L XL booster (meta 4, best named, whatever you care to call it) and you'll be fine. It's also much easier on fitting than the T2 XL. Same goes for the boost amp. I'd definitely make sure you can use T2 hardeners though (and T2 damage mods). |

Shoot for the 'Raven a la Liang' fit on the same web page.
Tinfoil. It should be at the top of everyone's food pyramid.

As said the CL5 is great.
As for the boost amps, all meta 0 to 4 amps give the same boost increase. Only the PG or CPU requirements are different, so go for a Meta0 if u have the CPU since its the cheapest |

I don't think the low skill Raven is really a worthwhile upgrade over the drake. |

I'm increasingly convinced this is the case. After actually flying one (Cal BS 5, CM spec 4 so not a matter of skills) it was incredibly underwhelming. As a range tanked kiter it's alright, but it isn't a serious contender as mission boats go. Neither is a Drake, really, but at least the Drake requires fewer skills and is almost never at risk of going pop.
Maybe I'm just spoiled (I'd been flying a NH and a Domi for several years before picking up a Raven as a lark and had experience in a Mael, Apoc, and Abaddon) but it gave me a serious case of the mehs. I have no doubt a gank CNR is better, but I'm also quite sure it's not a substitute for a NM or Mach.

I love the Drake since heavy missiles work better on smaller targets and it tanks much better than a Raven. If you can't fit T2`s in the low and mid slots I would stick with the Drake till you can. This is just my opinion so those who disagree are more than welcome to but please hold the flames |

The Drake's claim to mission boat-dom (other than 3s) is that it'sa ship you can do 4s in while waiting for the skills you need for a better boat.
The Raven's only benefit is that you can do 4s in it while waiting for the ISK to get a better boat (you should have the skills for that better boat before the Raven really offers you any benefit). |

Go for the tengu. The skills you train to get the tengu working well are great later on and it shouldn't be too hard to afford one. I think a hull with subsystems is like 430 mil, and then a couple of gist b boosters run about 50-60 mil each. The rest you can just use tech 2 modules.
The raven requires really good skills to shine |

A good starting point would be the library of Raven loadouts. Start with the default filter set, and work your way to find more specific stuff with the tags on the right. |
