Come on guys/girls & CCP have any of you got an ETA of when you will launch the first frieghtr into space.
And CCP, when it does happen will there be a big event to celegrate it.
I know for a fact that my corps will be before the month is up.
using an alt to not to give the game away. |

Freighters will be in space when people have the skills to fly them. It'll take a 1-3 months to train up the skills.

Dunno anything concrete, but been hearing rumours that the first freighter is coming off the production line this weekend.

wrong. people where able to fly freighters on patch day. freighters hardly need any skills to fly (in comparison to dreadnoughts that is).
i think the first obelisk was built around the 18th but i am not sure. anyway they are coming into the game very graduatly.

1-3 months to fly ya I guess if you are a noob. But I know several people who will be able to fly it in 40 minutes. Unless the database is wrong about the skill requirments. There are many people who already have spaceship command and industrial to lvl 5 than all they need is Advance space ship command lvl 1 for me 34 minutes.

Ahh, I rechecked the skill requirements. Freighters wouldn't take long to train at all. I somehow had it in my head that they were roughly equivilent in skills to dreads.

On Sunday 24th of July the first Freighter of the OE Freighter Productionline will leave the factory.

We don't know for sure if we are the first one to launch one, but from this moment on there is at least one freighter flying through eve space.

2bil is way over priced. That's 1 bil in profit for each Freighter. Seems like price gouging to me. I would hope people would have a little restaint to keep the prices in line.

I'm sure profit will be kept within reason in the future, but the first items out of a production chain in EVE always seem to be a lot, lot more expensive than their normalized price observed weeks/months later.

spaja, considering that for one corp to make a freighter they either spent 2bil on the bpo and then bought all the parts or they spend around 6bil on BPO and then collect around a bill worth of minerals (including 100+ mil trit), I dont think 2 billion is overpriced for the first ones off the line at all.

Well add in the blueprint and divide by the amount of time it takes to build (weeks I thought)... I'm sure the prices will come down but 2billion isn't THAT ludicrous.

I think one of the major corps planning on launching a frieghter soon should make an offical announcement and give a location and time and stuff, I know lots of people would fly there to see the spiffy new ship on it's first voyage. Obviously a little security would be in order, and it would be a good idea to have it in secure space and all that, but I know people would come from all around to see one.
