well, today, i got held up by the following people:
molly syndic4te viceroy violation tankuk wolfleader
these people blew up my ship, because i did not have enuff currency to please them.
THIS HAS BEEN THE MOST FUN IVE HAD IN WEEKS. Ive never been so excitied, my heart was pounding when i got locked on and jammed.
I see some people at the general forum saying that pirating should be banned. Well, I like trading, I like mining, Im not gonna be a outlaw tho. But to ignore the people who pay for this game aswell as I do, is not fair.
Okay.. Pirates are gone from Empire Space. I know its a lot of pain for the hundreds of pirates that pay for eve, but to take it all away from them because a few people that ventured into .0 space got screwed is BS. CCP has balanced this out. Without pirates theres no fun dammit, its gonna be a TRADE MMO. The pirates didnt pay for eve cause it was a TRADER MMO, they paid for the roles they could take head on.
People are so Self Fish, think about everyone, and stop being stubborn, but smart, not to go alone in .0 .. thank you.

I too find it interesting pie-rats are lurking in the dark regions of EVE, but still I HATE then and want the all to die horribly, vengeance and revenge will definetly be plotted by many.

K, don't go overboard ppl. Pirates are scum and their only place is in a pod 0.05 seconds before they are hit with 4 rounds of Phased Plasma M.
I am in no way amused by pirates, however I also respect their right to play that way, especially since the publishers seem to have gone out of their way to encourage ppl to become pirates (read the box, at least the one here in Canada, and you'd think piracy is the only real option).
My beef with CCP and the publishers (on this topic, Lord knows I have lots) is that PC pirates have few non-PvP piracy options. I think there should be more NPC traders, and bettter, more heavily armed convoys that travel through lower security space. I also think it *should* be possible to overwhelm a local police force in a 0.3-0.4 and kill say all their ppl at a gate, grab their loot and jump away before reinforcements arrive. By overwhelm, mind you, I'm talking 2 battleships, 5-6 cruisers, 4-8 frigates and a couple of indys (support/ammo/loot pickup). If they weren't out within 2 minutes? Special Ops :)
That would make the game more interesting for our ADHD pirate brethren wouldn't it?.
I don't mind having to deal with PC pirates, but I'd like to have some other things to do beside waiting by a stargate for me on the off chance I might be flying an indy instead of a Cruiser or Battleship.

Anya, why in Gods name would any self respecting Pirate attack an NPC convoy? At most I can make 2m off the entire convoy of 5 ships during what is nothing but sheer boredom.
Sorry, won't happen. We hunt human beings because that provides us with the greatest thrill.

Ah, but Maarek, would you turn over convoys if there was a chance of getting uber-loot (BP's/rares)?
I've been known to bump a few in my time, but the most lucrative was in the region of 500k of goods per ship. and that's 500k at NPC goods prices, so unless it's rares stuff, it works out to about 200k per ship. And that was me robbing the Caldari Navy convoys in a 1.0 system.
I agree that there should be beefier convoys, with real support, and totally cool items.
But like Maarek says, humans are by far the best prey, unpredictable, possibly more dangerous than they appear, and lately, there's more chance that the 'one' ship you are robbing is just a scout for the 15 guys behind him, etc.
As the playerbase matures, and finds it's feet (and tongues) the situation will be far more immersive, and entertaining. .

On the topic of false appearances. Remember, there is always Ryoko's badger flying around in shadows. And he will get you! Ask me nicely and I won't pod you... |

Not particularily, There's always a CHANCE I'll get Bps, Skills, and other goodies from players. In fact, almost every noobship/shuttle we stop is loaded with them.
NPCs are BORING.

Without pirates a big part of the game would hardly be used, namely "combat".
Name any reason, except a half-assed corpwar, for engaging into combat with other players if there would not be any pirates in this game.
Pirates are simply what makes this game fun. For pirates, but also for non-pirates. Since I can't imagine that people who mass a fleet to attack a pirate bloackde aren't having fun. I'm sure having fun when my blockade gets assaulted by anti-pirates.

Oh yeah, I'm really encouraged with all the sentry guns and the concord battleships and the endless negative security. The box really encouraged me too. Yep, really encouraged. :P -

"Anya, why in Gods name would any self respecting Pirate attack an NPC convoy? At most I can make 2m off the entire convoy of 5 ships during what is nothing but sheer boredom. "
Let me rephrase that:
Why in Gods name would any pirate too stupid to do some research and scanning attack an NPC convoy? My god, 20-30million worth of Harvester drones or Cargo Exander Is off of a single ship isn't worth a faction hit that doesn't touch your security status.
I've blown up numerous convoys that drop 810 or 1080 Harvesters in one go. Even at my cheapest bulk price (20k each for orders of 300+), that's 20mill in one drop.
I've scanned (unfortunately was not armed at the time...) a convoy containing 43 Cargo Expander Is, which go on the market for anywhere from 250k (10mill worth) to 1mill (40mill worth). A friend of mine found a convoy that dropped around 300 of them. ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |

Pirating makes this game fun yes, sucks losing your ship like i did 3 days ago and podded but then again makes the game alot more interesting. No more sleeping during 50+ jump route, no more walking away from comp. When i warp into 0.0 space i have my eyes on local chat and the cursor over the mwd's. It gets me on my seat and ready for anything. There is somthing more fun although. Its call hunting the priates.
If you think your the only one worried about getting podded, pirates will start to feel, if not already, the presure. I did see some m3g4 blocking a gate and well, after i told m crew to coem help out, ive never seen pirates scatter so fast. =D now that is exciting imo.

BSOD, I don't know where the ones you hit are, but all of the ones I've seen and hunted as a noob in Lonetrek and Amarr space had nothing of the sort. I think the best I ever got was 3k units of carbon.

It's good.. now pirates have to face what other people faces against pirates.
Now Pirates face harm in low secs just like others face harm from pc rats in low secs.. I think it's a very good trade off **I'm a flower, watch me blossom... and kill** |

Posting seperate as it's a little different topic,
Piracy is a must in this game, I think it's working very well right now. I wouldn't change too much of it.
As for non-rats, I'm tired of hearing "But I lost everything, months of work.. blah blah.
If everything you have in the game is riding on what you're in... Stay the hell out of harms way. If you can't afford the lose you will take you have no more business being there than the newbs that complain about the same thing.
And if you've been playing for months and cruiser is all you own you're wrong anyway.

2 questions:
1)It is possible to pirate alone? Im still a good player, but I try the other day, and finding a gate without sentry guns with at least some players in the map was difficult... then wait for someone to pass by , boring to death... when someone finally appear I try to webfier and warp jamme... and they get away before I lock them out... so I went back to mine...
2) Is there any lone pirate there I can go and try to have a decent fight 1 to 1 combat? I wanted to fight someone, and went to look for a decent pirate (not suicide trying to go after moo clan alone) and was painfully frustrating not even able to track a 500k-bounty pirate...
And ideas? Should I turn completely to the dark side, and just attack alone any soul I can get my weapons on them and say good by to the high lvl security systems?

Edited by: Talon SilverHawk on 24/07/2003 16:50:58 Yep pirates are good and bad, good in that they spice up the EVE universe, Bad if they happen to you. Met Molly and Co last night sitting the Assah gate. Escaped by the skin of my teeth and managed to put a dent in Mollys armour but ran out of power, Next time Molly.
As they say you live and learn or is that survive and learn.
