I have a amd xp2000 and i only had 1 ddr512-333 memory card. Now yesterday i bought another memory card to bring my memory to 1G and after that, i click on the eve shortcut, it tries to start but then it just dissapears, i dont even see the login screen . If i remove the memory card, it starts up fine............ I have tryied mixmatching the cards in different slots but without any luck. Does anyone know whats going on ?

Are both your sticks of ram the exact same model brand ect. . . Could be one is ECC and the other is Non ECC. . Sometimes ram gets funny about being exactly paired up. Just some ideas. Could be your new stick is a C grade Wafer and not A grade that is usualy used when systems are built from people like Dell ect. . This is especially common if purchasing ram from EBAY or places off of Price Watch. Just some ideas thrown out there. What are the model numbers of both chips ? maybe a little research could reveal the problem where did you purchase the new ram?

Mabey the Kingston RAM is poor quality, I have had to send a fair bit back due to this sort of crashing.

Also, what Operating System are you using?
If Windows98 (or ME) you need to do some config tweaking:

works with each one in, but not with both
I had this problem a long long time ago, back in the Pentium II days, and a BIOS update solved it.

@ Tridium
ECC, ECC/REG and ordinary memory don't work together.. you need one type of memory for it to work,.. -------------------------------------------- What shall we do with the podded sailor? What shall we do with the podded sailor? What shall we do with the podded sailor.. early in the mornin'. |

Sad to say it, but I had the problem with other software. With the same type of ram and a 2000xp. I found a workaround, but its not a nice one. The 2000xp has a FSB of 266 and your memory is clocking at 333 (133 and 166)
I underclocked my memory down to 133 (keeping a ratio of 1:1) and it running smooth, no crashing.
My mobo in question is an nforce is way picky on memory, which I discovered :/
But hopefully im getting my Barton by september, so I can whack everything back up to 166 again :)

Try downloading a ram checker, it had the same problem, it showed that one of my kingston DDR 512 Mb ran, had a minor flow, bought a new one, and now there are no problems So Say I. Einheriar Ulrich of the Bloodline of Einheriar.
