fighting some cruisers yesterday in my rupture, was getting hit with heavy missiles so i try to out range them, they were still hitting at just over 70kms!!! wtf.
okay the rats my have good missile skills but thats just ridiculous, surely rats should have vareying ranges like turret rats do with different bounties etc?!?!

Edited by: Stuart85 on 22/07/2005 09:29:22 One of the few benefits to missiles after the patch seems to be velocity and range. With the two skills that affect range at lvl3, my heavies can hit at 54km in a Ferox. With them at lvl5 I could be at almost 70km, and if it's a ship which has a missile speed bonus, like the Caracal, then the effective range would be pretty huge, 100km+ maybe.
Then again, it could just be that the rats have been giving stupid bonuses. Wouldn't be the first time.

84km would be the max range for a heavy missile with both skills at 5.
And yeah npc's can be retarded, and hit you for 400 damage with a thunderbolt

Heavy missiles have a maximum range of 37.5km, without skills.
Training Missile Bombardment and Missile Projection to lvl 4, will increase this to 73.5km.
Training those skills to level 5, will increase it to 84.3km.
This doesn't include any velocity/flight time bonuses included from a ship. But in theory yes, you could get heavies upto 126.5km with a Caracal (Cal. Cruiser trained to lvl5).
Have a look at this tool. If you want to calculate things further.

Some of the NPCs (like sentry batteries) are damage mod stackers, and have damage multiplier of 4x or more...

NPCs are pretty evil, but past about 70km range you won't take any damage whatsoever from cruisers. Its the sentry guns though. They have pretty much unlimited range, so make them your first kills while you kite away from the other ebil stuff.
And yer a caldari! Don't use a rupture! ---

I would if the moa wasnt such a *****, and the caracel had'nt been hit so hard in the nessary skills to survive area... (training up my new loverly missile skills atm)
I like the idea of my missiles from my caracel going 130kms, that would be fine.

Yeah I got pounded from 60km out in my Destroyer. There was nothing I could do to counter that kinda damage/get close enough to kill the rats in that ship...Sucked. We hold it down like a fat kid on a see-saw!! |

Yeah I think I read something about that today in another post, about a 10/10 complex boss that does rediculous damage because of the multiplier.

Yeah, moa sucks, but you can jam. Trust me. Hop in a caracal again. Use heavies. You'll do fantastic if you have a lot of range. Then start moving laterally. Get the transversal up and those turrets will get some misses.
The trick is not letting anything touch you. I fly a cerberus, and even with a single Medium Shield Extender II as my tank, I rarely take even a few points of armor damage. ---
