Well I'm looking for the in-game music, specifically the music that comes up just as the map has loaded, before any action. They seem to have lumped it all together in the game files so I'm stumped.
It doesn't seem to be around on the net either. Anyone have any ideas as to how I could get at it or download it?
Cheers, Xav

heh... fungame... abit unrealistic tho...
got like an entire army of war elefants vs an army of spartans...
i rammed into them spartans flying everywhere... but the sobs just brushed of the dust and PWNed my phants...
ok besides this its realy realistic... well i kinda hate the order penalty from being far from the capital...
faugth the romans used regional capitals
anyway good game... most of the time

Hmm lets see.. spartans are elite warriors carrying reaaallly long pikes and in phalanx formation.. I doubt that elephants getting taken down by them is unrealistic.

If you want realism there is a mod for Rome which boosts it hugely, visit www.rometotalrealism.com.
There were huge points of historical inaccuracy such as the Roman legionary calvary. As for the sound track I thought they realised a CD but I'm probably wrong

But in what other game can you deploy a unit of incendiary pigs? Not only that, but I get the feeling they're probably a genuine historical weapon of war. You can imagine the coversation:
Commander "How are we going to stop those damned elephants?!" Lieutenant "Hey! Here's an idea; it's a bit of a long shot but it might just work. We get some pigs, right, cover them in oil, give a good slap on the behind to get 'em running at the elephants and then, this is the best bit ... we set them on fire! Waddaya think? Great idea yeah? Now, were did I leave my wine?"

As far as I know elephants were used quite specifically to break phalanx lines. But clearly a bunch of people with spikey sticks are going to be able to kill elephants eventually -----------------

I pretty sure theres an element of whether or not the hoplites kept the nerve to hold together when a bunch of elephants are charging straight for em!

Almost every unit in the game vs. elephants = pwned.
Heavy Ontagers vs. elephants = delicious medium well elephant steaks.

The trick with elephants was not to kill them but to panic them, hence the pitch covered pig tactic, dosent matter how much elephants wtfpwn, when they are scared they are indiscriminate.
I picked up this ace book today everyone rates it as a must buy for the budding military genius, tho ive decided to rename it as "Sun Tzu's art of the bloody obvious" |
