ganka ~750dps semitank with ions ~500 with drones full tank... go fly sacri.
But when i hear some whiners about deimos overpowered, let me remind you that it does that dmg in 2km. And you actually need to get there alive.

atm, zealot is better, because deimos don't really have the option to fit 1600mm plate in any good way.

It is not that simple... 2k means that you are not aligned etc... and very close to 100m where you don't hit painted BS lol.

basically it depends on how you wanna fly. If you like up close and personal then go for the deimos. If you like a bit more versatility in the range, fly a zealot.
It should be stated that a zealot has to go nearly full gank to match the damage of an ion setup deimos, and the deimos can still tank a bit while putting out 500-550 DPS whereas the zealot cant.
But the trade off is that the zealot can hit at 40-50 km using beams where as the deimos has an optimal of ~2km
I fly deimos, and i love it. I love getting in close and under BS guns and ripping them up. Now that missiles have been balanced this isnt such a risky strategy and i dont fear any BS in my deimos anymore (though a cruise raven using the right missiles will still screw me up probably).
If you see what a deimos can do (and yes, its a bit of a plug) go grab THIS movie. Its 12 minutes of a deimos shooting at stuff. Personally, id rather have a deimos for its pure DPS

medium rep 2 explosive hard pdu 2 400 rolled tungsten 2 dmg mod

k, thx, what do you do with intys orbiting you at 17km with MWD and scrambling, did few tests, seems like only lights can hit them, but do pathetic damage

either mwd away from em or get someone to come and kill them. Personally, ive never had a single ceptor even try and take me on and i dont fly solo in a deimos very often. Ishtar is much better suited if u fly solo a lot

Work? You can fit them.. if you mean practical, then no. Not in any situation I can tell. Other ships do medium range much better. _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning.

so with this setup you do 550dps? right, and what you got=? med rep II and hardner as tank(400plate aint that much realy), now with zealot you can fit 1 hardner and 1 med rep and lots of HS and you would tank same,do same damage , but zealot got much, much longer range....doesnt seems fair to me

nah that setup does around 450/500 dps. My latest one does 550 with tech2 medium drones but im not giving that out
I think a zealot has to go 7 HS2s to hit 500 dps though but im not sure about that. Its quite close in the raw dps stakes anyway. The zealot does have more flexibility with it range, thou it doesnt have the drone bay to go with it which can be a big asset (10 tech2 mediums is about 100dps alone).
I dunno really. They are both very good ships. The deimos wins on the DPS, the zealot on range. Depends what you like really. I love orbiting a BS at 2km and ripping him up while he sits there and cant do nothing (unless hes actually smart). Its all down to how u like to fly ur ships

Edited by: Jack Kyrian on 26/07/2005 01:04:02 i'll put in a couple more deimos questions:) eyeshadow, i've been flying a deimos myself for a bit and i've come to two problems that i've encountered and wondering how you counter them first i've tried to solo a raven, with the patch changes i wasn't as scared from the missles. and now its not the missles, its the heavy nos. how do you counter this? i've figured that i wouldnt be able to stand up against him with him stealing all my cap so i warped away from that raven. also when you are 10-15km from your target and you mwd towards them, sometimes i find myself overshooting the target. i've been getting better at not doing this but still do it occassionaly, any tips or tricks you have for that?

for no to overshot your target, you got to know how far you can go on one boost, same as with taranis realy
and with heavy nos, I'm sure that with few cap relays you'll be fine

heavy nos is a problem all HACS face, not just the deimos, though it is more succeptible to them as its right in close. There is however, not a great deal you can do about it. Running a medium nos will probably supply you with enuf cap to carry on shooting on him once ur cap is dry, but your tank will fail and u wont be able to mwd away from him.
If you can kill him fast enuf, the heavy nos wont effect you, hence max DPS is what you really need. His heavy nos will need probably 3 cycles to really hurt you (so ~25 seconds) so unless you can hurt him enough in that time, u probably gonna go down
