I spend a week getting the ability to mount large hybrid weapons and they suck!
I put dual 250s on my battleship and they do a third of the damage if i have my cruiser guns mounted.
Whats wrong with this picture:(

The duel 250mms are like the duel 150mm cruiser class rails which in turn is like the 125mm frigate class rail.
If you want a powerful large rail, I believe the 425mm is your answer. Although it's been a while since I've played with battleship class weapons. . . _______________________________________________ "But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. there isn't a good dual gun in the game. Dual 250's have a .98 damage modifier, a bad rof, bad tracking, bad everything. You'd be better off with some named 250's on there, or if you want to use large guns go get some nuetron cannons or ion cannons. They are both wicked close range guns, although their tracking speed isn't all that good. Better than a 250mm rail gun, but still not that great. If you use these make sure to train motion prediction and equip a few modules to increase radians/sec, or just web the ship you target.
And yes, you can not effectively kill a frigate with large guns unless you web the frigate down to about 100m/s. Then you have a chance :)

yep, if you put "dual" in front of a weapon name and its a hybrid, it will basically suck to no end. try to get a mega beam, or a 425mm rail. i doubt they are available yet.

Dual hybrid anything is basically for when you can't get the powergrid to fit a real gun and want something to hold ammo and to use when you're really freaking desperate, avoid them like the plague, use a 425mm railgun or a neutron blaster on a bship. ------

Tachyon beam lasers, 425mm rails and 1700mm howitzers are currently unavailable. They used to be available until several weeks back when CCP decided to pull them off the market. Until then, battleships are certainly gimped. So if you want range, you're going to have to train for large laser turrets and use some Mega Beams (which aren't all *that* bad) or maybe some projectile... though I'm not at all familiar with projectile. As for why CCP pulled the bp's off the market? Your guess is as good as mine. Gooooo CCP! --------------- I used to be in the FA. I like cookies. Eve Radio is teh pwn. |

Neutron Blaster Cannons. Period dot. even with AM ammo they're effective to 24ish km. Good damage, decent tracking speed (comparatively), not as much powergrid as the rails. I'm running 6 on my megathron and it only took 6 shots to take out a minmatar frigate orbiting me at 10km going something like 400 m/s. thats one salvo, not 6 shots from each gun...so its quite possible to hit moving objects with large turrets. (only using one tracking computer in the above example)Additionally, one reason they might have taken all these large hybrids off of the market is because they needed tweaking...they left a few around for us to use for now, or left the ones that really arent all that bad, now they're bumping up the rest to be released on the next patch.

why do 425mm railguns sound like pansy rifles? the 250mm railgun has a beefier sound than this thing. "To be content,to be comfortable, is to be complacent. No one learns anything from pleasure..pain on the other hand is a most efficient instructor" |

call the 425 the 4 & a quarter. Now that sounds more mannly... (kinda like how everyone at the gym calls the 45 a plate, the 25 a quarter, the 10 a dime, and the 5 a nickle) actually, I don't know how that makes it more mannly... |

ok.. well the 4 and a quarter sounds like a clogged can of lysol, and it does about as much damage. "To be content,to be comfortable, is to be complacent. No one learns anything from pleasure..pain on the other hand is a most efficient instructor" |

Yeah it sounds auful, plz do something bout that... also, very unbalanced compared to tachyon beam. Not worth the grid. Evolution..... Just when you thought you were winning.

I been telling joo prophet.. mount 7 or 8 proto gauss on a BS and to hell with large turrets..
Back when CCP went nerf happy and hit all the guns and gunnery skills with a sledgehammer instead of just fine tuning things a little, I think they overlooked large turrets cause hardly anyone was using them at the time.
Now when you go from frigate guns to cruiser guns it's like WOW! But when you go from cruiser guns to BS guns it's WTF!!?? That shouldnt' be the case for something with 10x the grid and training costs.

Hmmm I think your not setting your ship up right
My neutrons push 7.5 damage mod and 3 sec ROF on My Domi, as opposed to 5.8 on My 250mm proto and 2 Sec ROF.
With AM ammo they have roughly the same effective range (25km)
The Best "Perfect" Hit I've had from the Neutrons is 960 damage. From The 250mm Proto Its 370
average hit from Neutrons is 280-300 Average from 250mm Proto is 140-160
Now what i REALLY want is Anode Neutron canons with a 3.75 base damage mod
I suggest you play with your ship set up
