Impressive tool ! Reminds me Maiden's tabs, where you need +6 fingers to play a note

"The SideWinder Strategic Commander will even allow you to record commands while playing games."
I was under the impression that macro ability was a bannable offense, especially if you use an outside program, in this case the device drivers for this, to acomplish them.
If thats not the case I'd appreciate knowing so I could program one of my hotbuttons on my keyboard to do f1-f4 all at once.

Edited by: Auldare on 25/07/2005 14:57:37 it is stated that the commander can do this, but fortuneately this part is not compatible with the commander so you can't have an 'i win' button. mainly it's handy for allowing you to do one thing while also the mouse doing another.
the recording commands is mainly mapping a button while in game. hit the rec button, use the shotcut on the keyboard then click the button on the commander you want that shortcut to be assigned to....

I think that mainly is to deal with people macro mining, not actively playing the game with macros.
But somebody can correct me on this if I'm wrong.

7-a-3 from the EULA: (3) You may not use macros or other stored rapid keystrokes or other patterns of play that facilitate acquisition of items, currency, objects, character attributes, rank or status at an accelerated rate when compared with ordinary Game play. You may not rewrite or modify the user interface or otherwise manipulate data in any way to acquire items, currency, objects, character attributes or beneficial actions not actually acquired or achieved in the Game.
I remember E&B had a clause that was specifically "unattended macros" - so in other words you could hit one button that does several actions at once without violating the EULA but it appears that the EVE EULA is written such that if you're caught using a macro at all you can be banned/warned, but a GM would have to confirm what their policy is.
PS: macros are a feature of directplay, so your definition of "3rd party program" isn't a very good statement to make - is it truely a third party program if its one thats required to play the game?

I dunno for the Strategic Commander but I got myself a Belkin NostromoÖ SpeedPad n52 and I love it.
Regarding the Macros: I found out those don¦t work with eve - I tried setting a button for ALT+ F1 but that just didn¦t work. I configured the thumb button to be ALT and another one to be CTRL - so it¦s still 2 buttons to press at the same time - but both can be done with just the left hand without being a trained piano-player.

it¦s a left hand tool, so luckily it¦s not a mouse - my motoric abilities with the left hand are limited to pressing buttons ...

On the cheaper side..$45-$50 USD..The Saitek Gamers Keyboard and aux keypad works really well. I can customize settings for each of my ship set-ups. The software is kind of cheezy, but I got it to work quite well. It also looks cool on my desk. :D

Frighteningly, I have one of those. Too bad it only works for Steel Battalion. (Also too bad the multiplayer online version wasn't worth the $300 I spent on the games and controller.)

I have one. I dream to play with the help of this Microsoft garbage. but there's always something that does not work. U plan one key to make alt+F1 and when u hit it makes sometimes F1, some other alt+F1, some other both. I loose a couple of hours trying to make it work, but after all my patience was gone, the Strategic commander become a Lego Puzzle game...

I think it would be cool if they could interface Eve with the TrackIR. It's a real hit with some of the flight sim games, mainly IL-2.

My little brother swears by his Nostromo Gaming pad. Not sure how good it would be in Eve.
Only use I can see is mapping the F1, Alt-F1, Ctl-Alt-F1 keys

Is the Power Yoga DVD included in this Package?
I got a Strategic Commander, but I don't use it anymore. When I bought it, I hoped to get the x/y Axis to work with Eve, but I didn't. And the Slots are activated with the normal F Keys in the same Speed, so.... With AoM or so its Handy, but not with Eve, imho. |

i have one of those,
you can if you want scramble, web, shoot all guns, type in a smackline in local with a press of one button and you have 53 buttons left to use. picked it up at compusa for 19.99 with a 19.98 dollar rebate. yes 1 cent after a rebate.
it does not record mouse movements. it also moves forwards/back/sides and angles like rudder.
sc is about 6 years old so getting software to work in xp can be a pain in the ass

I recall someone once MAKING a "command center" type thing for Eve. Although that was years ago and I doubt it'll ever be found. _________________________________________________________

I know the man who has his own eve ship console made out of switches and a panel so to speak. all tied in with his keyboard. I am not sure about it but it has max slots for changing ships around like a scorp or frig. The new drag and drop for the new ship mods makes it even nicer he says. It look like something out of star wars. all aluminum and shiny. There is no good or evil in the universe only POWER!
