How many operational shuttles are left? I can recall Discovery, Endeavor and Atlantis. Are there any others I am missing?

Something fell off, when the fuel pods were separating. Any announcement as to what it was, or are NASA conducting an investigation before saying anything?
It didn't look like it was anything important, but from what I remember of shuttle design, very few bits of it aren't important.

In regards to what fell off, they said they are having, as per procedure, every single frame of all video looked over by experts over the next 12 hours. They do not believe it was anything significant and lots of pieces are meant to fall off at launch. covers and so on.
So far the mission is going quite well and Commander Collins reported it was the smoothest ascent she has been on to date. That seems the general concensus all around.
And yea... the shuttle fleet is about 20 years old but they have been revamped quite a lot over the last 2 years or so. Atlantis is scheduled to go up in September and they have 5 other missions after that scheduled for the shuttle fleet between now and December 2006.
Sorry. I visited Cape Canaveral last year and happened to be there the day they had a lecture series where the guy came out and said, "Ladies and Gentlemen... as of a few hours ago... we're back on Mars... here are the pictures..." which was really inspiring. Everyone was so giddy. So this shuttle launch has drawn my attention a lot more than usual.

The first one after a hiatus always does (although you have other reasons for your attention).
It's four or five years from now, when everybody yawns when they go up and starts to gripe about how much they cost, that safety corners will start getting cut again. That's when we should be expecting another dead shuttle.
