i have this problem where my computer resets when i tell my ship to move in a different direction. it doesn't happen every time, but the easiest way to make this happen is warp to somewhere, and make the ship change directions 2 or 3 times. by the third time it will always reset.
i have the latest drivers and i have tried re-installing eve. that seemed to fix it temporarily. now it is back.

Have you played any other games on this machine? Do they work fine? Or rather, are you having any other problems other than eve with restarts?

other ways to make the computer reset:
-stop my ship -warp to a location -tell the ship to dock -approach an object (approaches, then resets when reaches 0 m)
other problems i have had in the past where: -severe drop in fps when weapon turrets are activated this was fixed by reinstalling eve.
i don't have any problems with other games on this machine

Edited by: Blunt Trauma on 28/07/2005 19:10:03 Same problem here, seems to only happen when a droid opens fire on my ship though. Very annoying.
Quick blue screen of death, then comp soft boots.
My specs are similiar: 2.53p4, 1 gig ram, geforce 6800
No problems with any other games out there.

Edited by: Blunt Trauma on 28/07/2005 21:19:37 Might want to try & update drivers for any on-board sound cards, especially if its in the 'Realtek' family.
Few other people here have had success with similar crashes.
*edit* failing that, try disabling sound & see if that helps

hi, i updated the sound drivers by going into control panel->system->device manager->realtek driver->properties and click update driver. after restart i had to configure all the settings again but i no longer have the problem. thanks for the replies that led to it being a sound card driver issue

Edited by: Raindrop on 01/08/2005 00:46:01 Yup most issues are sound card related. SB-live aren't good either.
Everytime i'd try to mine using harvesters the comp would softboot after 30mins/2 hours mining. Since then i have the new comp with a different (onboard) soundcard and using that i no longer have that issue. When i first got it i tried the SB-live in it but with the same result. Raindrop

I haven't got any bluescreens or reboots in the past year, but suddenly I get random reboots while playing EVE in windowed mode with music on the background or surfing the web
