because NOS essentially does the same thing and gives you cap instead of using your cap to get rid of his cap

I use them extensively on some of my Apocalypse setups. You'll know which ones when it blows out half your battleship's cap. Lovely modules, heh.

Yes, but nos generally does not get you enough cap to make it worthwhile IMO, you only have 30 seconds to nail someone, with heavy nos only taking 100cap when a neutralizer takes 330, two of them kills ceptors and ass frigs where noses they can get away from.

I use them on my apoc too, they just seem to kill other people and I never see people use them... Very good module IMO.

Edited by: Vishnej on 27/07/2005 23:21:19 On a nosferdomix, you combine them with two nosferatus each, and can kill even non-Matari battleships easily if you're tanked out okay.
Versus cruisers or HACs, they pwn much more, of course.

I Put together this Tempest set up on SiSi a little bit ago
6x dual 650 2x Neut 2x L Shield Extender (or was it three) 5xgyro AC Temest
It tore apart a Blasterthorn with 3 plates, but I'd hardly call the middle of ffa a typical pvp environment.

Too bad that if you use a neut, and someone uses a nos on you... the nos comes out on top.

Lads lads,Admitadly if you're going for damage this isnt a great Idea but someone Posted in a thread way back about how 2 Nos's and a Neutralizer plus good Energy Emission skills gives a net gain in Cap.
Ive been using 2 Nos's and a Neut. on my Scorp to provide anti-frig and cruiser defense but an Idea of 4 Nos's and 2 Neut. has poped into my mind and now Im off to see if it'd all fit.I doubt it but well it'll certainly be interesting if I can fit them all.

They are good for my cargo carrying cruisers if i want to defend myself against an inty and get away easily. I like em. I don't care about my cap, i just need to warp and fire a few bursts of the neut.

Well tested.I can fit the following Scorp setup:
Hi: 4xHeavy Nos I 2xE500 Heavy Neutralizers Mid: 1xXLarge Shield Booster II 1xShield Amp I 2xCap Recharger II 4xVarius Active Shield Hardeners Low: 4xPDU II's
In Conclusion:
With my Current Energy Emission Skills I remove from an Enemies Capacitor a total of 1900 cap every 24 Seconds with a Net Loss(At EE 3) of 50 Cap every 24 Seconds. Couple this with one of the best Shield tanks(IMHO) in the game we have a very strong Support role if you can get your ship to around the 15-20km Mark. As it moves at 140m/s that aint exactly feasible but if you were attacked by an Interceptor or Blasterax/Deimos or any close range ship you could make sure their cap was in ****e :D _______________________________________________ An tÚ nach bhfuil lßidir nÝ folßir d¾ bheith glic -He who is not strong must be crafty |

You use them when you fight a ship class below your own. Then you can afford to trade cap for cap. ____ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |

The good thing about neuts is that a medium sucks as much cap as a large nosf for much less fitting. Great for sticking on tight BS setups.

Yup its really hard to get a sustained 20km scrambler on most frigs now. Which is sad because I liked using 12km plus fittings on my alts crusader. Was great for embarrasing big ship pilots who thought they had anti-frig rigs.

I like to use them on my passive tanks with Invulnerability Field running and as its Domi a fleet of drones. ItÆs the last thing people expect to face and it works well.
A lot of people donÆt use them due to the cap drain but being a passive tank even with an Invulnerability Field I have loads of free cap left for Energy Neutralizers
DonÆt take a full set of Energy Neutralizers in case someone NosÆs you. I find 2 or 3 Nos with the rest Energy Neutralizers works best.

Nice hihg slot layout for the dom (going for cap killing) i found was: 2 heavy nos, 2 medium nos, 2 medium neuts.
Balances out with a small gain in cap. You're gonna need to be right on top of them, but works in some situations. Mids/lows are left to ew/tanking. Cap injectors are a godsend.

Yeah i had a crazy scorp setup like that ages ago think u needed 2 or 3 nos per neut as the neust cycle time is double of a nos

i think neutralizers are only good if you have an apoc or a tiny fleet. But in that tiny fleet the only real purpose of them is to gank something faster. Or maybe some sort of cap booster setup as well. It's probably a cajone size issue that prevents people from using them more. --- I agree with everything Howard Dean says. |

Nope. They are good when you can't fit a nosf, but need to still suck the same amount of cap from a smaller target. BS can easily sustain medium neuts.

I had a nasty Scorp setup with these...
4 heavy NOS, 2 heavy Neut 8 multispec 4 cap power relay
Was only used in fleet battles. I'd get close to an amarr ship (hopefully a geddon), jam him and nos/neut him....then unjam him and keep the cap drain going. I'd then start cycle jamming other targets. Amarr ships are pointless without cap, so I could keep it out of busness. If there were no amarr ships, (or he dies/warps) 1 nos and 1 neut on any frig and he's dead in the water. To get on the kill mails I'd use a swarm of light drones. They'd get there fast and put a couple hits in so I'd be on the mail.

I used to fly an autocannon Tempest setup with a pair of heavy neuts up high. Worked quite well, but it's a tricky setup - there's not a whole lot of tanking ability... =============== Killboard: http://www.celeskills.com
