I'm getting close to finishing up skills for a merlin. I need some fitting help.
Highs I'm going with light ion blasters 2
Mids: web,ab, ?, ?
Lows: magnetic stab, ?,?
Rigs: ?
I guess my biggest confusion comes to tank and resists. I read msab got nerfed and isn't as good. What about msb and cap booster?
Any advice appreciated. |

Mids: medium shield extender, scram, ab, web/tracking disruptor Lows: mag stab x2, power core
Rigs: extender rigs x2, third rig your choice (I'd do a polycarbon rig for speed/agility or an em screen)
Ancillary boosters are still good if you want to go that route..they just won't run as long with fewer cap charges. I go extender buffer fits since you have good dps in the merlin you can kill of things with lower dps. |

I'd recommended an adaptive invuln over the web or TD but otherwise go with the fit above |

Rail Merlin all the way.
150mm rails with Navy AM
Scram Web AB II MSE (probably meta 4)
Mag stab PDS MAPC
Sit at 8km and own everyone who expects you to be blaster fit.
EDIT: ALWAYS fit a web if you are using blasters. Invuln give nice tank but you lose any form of range control and people will just walk away. That is the Way, the Tao.
Balance is everything.

Which works right up until you fire the first time, at which point anyone with more than 2 brain cells to rub together will orbit at 500m and you'll never hit them again. Blasters with Null will work much better. |

An AB, web, scram Rifter will close at about 50 m/s. You overestimate a ship's ability yo get under a AB frigate's guns. |

Not really. I've done it many times. RvB is a great place to get frigate fights. I have many frigate kills, both on this character (a year or two back) and on my alt that is currently in RvB. |

This exactly. a merlin can outrun a brick tanked brawler. It is exactly the same concept and the rail incursus and they are nasty! That is the Way, the Tao.

No.
No.
And no.
You definately over estimate the ability to get 'under the guns'. I suggest the pilots you were flying against might be of the 2 brain cell variety if you got under their guns so easily. That is the Way, the Tao.

Even with all Vs, tracking on 150mm railguns is horrible. A typical 200mm/SAR II Rifter orbiting at 3km even webbed will be almost impossible to hit, even using Javelin ammo.
All it takes is to get inside 3kms and you're dead.
EDIT: How are the kills you linked relevant? |

They were all kills using a rail fitted incursus. The rail merlin operates on exactly the same principle. Not once did those AB/web brawlers get anywhere near to being under my guns.
The point being is if you are letting a rifter or whatever orbit you at 3km then you are flying wrong. Fit for a bit more speed, slightly less tank and get to the edge of scram range (it's not that difficult) and then chew them apart by using a combination of manual piloting and keep at range. You are in your optimal and hitting quite nicely as if the want to orbit they have to get close hence flying towards you. therefore no angular and solid hits from your optimal range guns without any issues tracking.
Me having to explain this clearly indicate that you don't fly this type of setup or have only flown against it by pilots that haven't figured this out yet. That is the Way, the Tao.
Balance is everything.

Check my signature for videos and fitts. And to be honest, after the frigate and masb changes you really need atleast a Standard Blue Pill for the booster to be as it was pre patch. 7 charges dosnt help when dueling extender scram 200ac thrashers :( But frigs whitin web/scram range still go pop if flow correctly!
