Edited by: Cannedbeef on 28/07/2005 20:27:07 Hey, im a brand new fresh Taranis Pilot, ive done ok on my own (winning 1 v 1's, but how often is it really a 1v1..) With three other inty kills under my belt (Crow, Crow, Raptor) I am looking into using a plate.. my current setup:
150mm II x 3
X5 Web, 7.5km Scrambler, named MWD
Small Armor Rep, MAPC, CPR
The small armor rep is what has let me win my fights so far, but I hear plate inties are much better.. Anyone have any Taranis-specific thoughts?

Well it's not too hard. Fit 2 MAPC, a 400mm plate, an MWD web and scramble and see what you can fit in terms of guns.
You'd have 7,25 powergrid per gun, so with advanced weapon upgrades 4 that'd be 7,88 per gun. Just nog enough for 3 ions II, but you could fit 2 and a named one ;-p

at the moment im partial to rails, due to me doing solo work, so I dont think that will work sadly.. More realistically im probably looking at a 200mm plate

Edited by: Linavin on 28/07/2005 21:49:14 125s do nearly the same dot as 150s but the extra tracking might help during inty combat. Not to mention the fitting with adv. weap upgrades you should be able to fit 3 with Shayla's setup iirc

how come you're using a 7.5 scram with rails? why not use a 20km so you can utilize their range? a 7.5 scram/web combo just screams out for small T2 neutrons, not T2 150s
ah yes, my reminder to all new taranis pilots, never ever forget those 3 light drones, they can squeeze out a win for you if its a close fight.

They are also amazing for decloaking covert ops that cloak on jumpin, think they are safe, and dont warp out.

Isn't optimal for tech.2 125 mm rails with antimatter 6.75 k or so..?

"because he is using 150's josephine"
Aye, but since the 125's got mentioned later in the thread, i used them instead as it made more sense ^^ 150's would have 9 km optimal or so with that ammo, but dunno how tracking would work with these at 7- range...
(could be due to 20 km scrambler eating way more cap, btw?

I`ve used a Ranis alot, although never really bothered with a plate, i find 150's useful using thoriam gives 15km or so, usually kills things pretty quick
20k does hurt the cap abit against bigger targets

Electrons most probably.

Yeah I use 150mm II's with AM, an optimal of near 8km, and I orbit around 6,700m.. Not the best, but I figure its an Inty.. why not use the closer range, stronger scrambler :-P
Electrons might fit with a 400mm plate.. just looking at them it seems it would, im in my Enyo at the moment so cant check :-P

Currently at advanced weapon upgrades 3, I can squeeze this setup on, with approx .4 powergrid to spare:
3 light electron blaster 2, 1 small nos MWD t2, 7.5k scram, webber 2xMAPC, 400mm nanofiber plate.
The 2 or so powergrid I gained from training advanced weapon upgrades to 3 was *just* enough to swap the T1 MWD for a T2. Didn't see any point in trying to go for a T2 ion blaster, as, if memory serves, they use more than 2 additional powergrid.
Possibly, one could ditch the light nos, and revert the T2 MWD to a named T1 and see if that'd help fit ions...but with no cap modules, I find myself somewhat dependant on that nos. With medium-good navigation skills it still pulls around 3500 m/s. Oh, and 3 light drones, definately.
I know you mention rails, but unless you go down and use 75mm gatlings, I can't see how the powergrid would fit with a plate. Doesn't 125's use more grid than electrons? Not sure on this...but if it's the case, then there is no way to fit rails + 400mm plate...Course you could try with a 200mm plate instead. Might work.
Best of luck :p

Edited by: Shayla Sh''inlux on 01/08/2005 11:14:01 You can run 2 Ion II and an Electron II, or 2 Ions II and a tech I Ion blaster if you train advanced weapon upgrades to 4. Level 3 might even be enough as well. That's with a 400mm plate. Of course you'll need two MAPC's.
Another interesting setup is using a 200mm plate and a small repairer in the lows. If I remember correctly with advanced weapon upgrades 3 you can *exactly* squeeze in 3 Ion II, a webber, a scrambler and an MWD.
Yet another different fitting is one with a Nosferatu and 100mm plate. I remember putting a Diag II in there because I was like 0,9 powergrid short for the Nos, but that was before advanced weapon upgrades. I can't for the love of me remember the setup tho. I think it was PDU - 100mm - magstab II in low.
Oh and for rail setups, a 125mm II costs as much grid as an Ion II, so they're interchangable. For fleet tackling, I suggest taking a look at this:
3 x 150 II
1 x Afterburner II 1 x 20km scramble 1 x 7,5km scramble
1 x MAPC 1 x cap relay 1 x Small Armor rep II
It has great durability and you don't have to constantly worry about turing MWD on and off while you keep enough speed to make cruise missiles hurt not too bad. Orbit the targets you scramble and you should be safe from drones and large guns as well.
150's II have 15km optimal with Thorium (I think), but I tend to carry 3-4 ammo types and switch as needed.

I use:
3 T2 Ions, 1 Small nos MWD,Web,Scramble Small repper, MagStab2, MAPC
or
3 T2 Ions MWD,Web,Scram 200mm Plate, Repper, MAPC

3x 125 II's
2x Webs 1x Scram
1x 400mm Plate 1x Small armor rep II 1x MAPC? (or relay, I forget)
I did use it with electrons, but I am pretty sure that 125 2's would fit, maybe a named mapc would be needed...
