Hi my name is Sort Dragon
This is me introducing myself with the intent to run for a seat in the Council of Stellar Management term 8, in this manifesto I will explain to you why I think I should be elected a seat in the Council of Stellar Management.
First off I am not going to try to promise that I can get anything changed as we all know that is not 100% possible and too many times csm's have gone out with promises to get ccp to change things and failed. On the other hand I promise to be the voice to the people who need that voice, be that from the noobie who just wants to bring his new shiney drake to a fleet or the titan pilot who just wants to make people cry. I understand that by being a csm you do not hold infinite power but you are selected to give voice to the topics and thoughts of the player base to the developers and gms where the average player cannot.
A little bit about myself, throughout my long time in eve I have been involved in all levels of game play I am currently in the alliance Pandemic Legion and have been for the past year and a half. Previous to this I was in Northern Coalition. and IT Alliance before that. I am a ceo of my own pvp corp with close to 60 actual members, throughout my time in eve I have held many different leadership positions but I find myself at my best when I lead from the front.
I have been reading through the minutes of CSM 7 and I can see a main focus for csm 8 is going to be for 0.0. I believe with my past experience in eve I am perfectly suited for a position on the csm. This means yes my main focus will be 0.0 but that does not in any way mean that I will ignore empire or low sec .I have played the game so long now to understand that for 0.0 to survive and be able to give the great content and fights that it does then there must be a be a balance found between all 3 areas of eve.
My experience in eve is the following:
- Industry from smallest of building and invention to titan and super cap production.
- Fcing roams to fcing large fleets in low sec empire and 0.0.
- I have held leadership positions across multiple alliances during multiple wars and campaigns that have been through eve.
- Managing massive regions of current and old sov system space to know the ins and out of 0.0 sov warfare and and pos warfare and what I believe to be the positives and negatives to these things.
Throughout the coming election you will see many different candidates come forward with different ideas and platforms and reasons for voting for them, if you have any questions for me regarding my campaign feel free to contact me via evemail and also feel free to follow me on Twitter https://twitter.com/Sort_Dragon
I will further state my intentions as it gets closer to the election date and will be looking to you the players in eve to help me understand what your needs are. I ask for your consideration to vote for me in the coming election. |

Weaselior wrote:what specific areas of game changes would you be able to comment on without consulting with anyone? i.e. CCP comes to you with an idea to do a specific change to eve gameplay: which areas are you able to comment intelligently on, and which do you need to defer to someone else's expertise?
There is litterally very little in eve that I do not know or have not done in the past. This is not arrogance and I apologize if it comes across like that, I have just literally done that many things in eve that it would be hard for me not to be able to comment on them all... If I had to maybe pick some then it would quite possibly be some level 4 missions and some arc missions that I do not know as much as everything else about.
Because this game at times can be very boring I have tried my best while low times in the pvp world to try my hardest to keep myself interested by trying different things. Also as I like to make isk in this game and I am pretty good at it I have researched nearly every single way possible to make isk and this has helped me learn the ins and outs of the game. |

Nathan Jameson wrote:A question to the OP: How important do you believe it is for a CSM 8 candidate to be able to express himself well through the proper use of spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar?
A fair question I do believe there is a fair need for a csm to be understood using spelling and grammar and such. However I do not believe that this should be relied upon to type and have the best English skills, after all eve is a global game with a lot of English speakers and I would think a csm should strive to be understood by all, so it is up to a csm to type so all can understand him or her.
I myself speak 2 languages and understand a further 3, English may be my mother tongue but after living overseas I can admit my english has failed me and I could not count for it being my best language. But 1 thing I can account for in my travels and I know above all else is the one thing people always want no matter if they are living in a foreign country or if they are just visiting or if they are a native. All everyone wants is to be understood so yes I do think that correct writing should be used but I do think that will not be my focus my focus will be to make sure people understand what I am saying instead of lots of fancy words and comments. |

No matter whether I am put into place by a way to guide game mechanics or not, I believe in what I am doing and know I am not here to influence changes that would hurt eve however there will be some people who will not believe what I am fighting for which is fair enough this is politics afterall. But the one thing I do trust in is the players to let me know what they want and I trust the Developers to develop a game that would help everyone not just my alliance. My job is to guide those 2 sides to understand each other better.

Sort GÇô Be it that you have more knowledge than most regarding EVE, can you give us a few quick ideas youGÇÖve had on how you would guide CCP when asked for ideas on how to GÇ£fixGÇ¥ the following long standing Null Sec issues: Null Sec SOV: Titans: Coalitions: Tech: Thanks! .
First off Snot I would like it to be known that I will be running a clean campaign so refrain from attacking another csm in my thread I will not be associated with a smear campaign against another candidate just because of the alliance or coalition they come from.
Now on to your questions.
I think the sov now days in null sec is even more stagnated then it was back under the pos warfare time. The benefits to the sov are great on the other hand the opportunities to upgrade your systems to maintain special rewards both tactically and industry based really do give a good bonus to having the new sov system. On the other hand I find that the flow of the game is stagnated under the new system, You do not very often see systems change hands under a smart defender. This is because there is no real strategic bonus to really defending a system every timer you can quite easily not fight on any of the numerous defense timers the system has and only need to turn up once to save the whole system which can cause alot of problems between people trying to get fights or attempt to get a footing into a hostile region. On the other hand it works also in the attackers favor favor if a large force comes in to take some ones space there is no bonus major bonus to holding systems so you can quite easily just give up and possibly come back at a later stage and recapture it or just move on comletly and give up.
Unfortunatly as a titan pilot I can say that now days that titans have lost there way in eve and these days titans are only usefull really as power projection bridge platforms or on the off chance as super weapons in 0.0 super cap fights. I have owned a titan right from the day of remote doomsday's to pinpoint 1 target capital only doomsday's that they are today. I can honestly say the titan is the one ship that no one really has any idea what to do with. You either make them completely overpowered (aeo doomsday, tracking titans) or to where they are now where they are most of the time no use to login other then to bridge people around. I do hope that there is some way that between the players the csm and ccp we can find some way to find the happy medium for titans so they can get the use they need for the pilots who own them while at the same time not being completely game controlling that everyone wants them banished from the game.
My favorite thing to say now days is 'The age of Alliances is dead the age of Coalitions is apon us' the game has changed so much since the start where it was about corps and then moved on to super corps massive corps that could really do some damage. Then these corps formed alliances and in turn the alliances banded together to breed coalitions.
This came about out of pure human instinct of survival corps realized that the only way to beat their enemy was to be better and what way to be better then to combine forces with other corps they considered good. The same happened with coalitions. Alliances realized that to beat certain alliances for example Pandemic Legion, Band of Brothers, Goons, Triumvirate to name a few, people had to adapt and the only way to beat these what people considered super alliances was to band together live together fight together and protect each other. Today you see an evolution of these groups to become massive coalitions covering multiple regions for what is survival of the fittest. Do I believe coalitions are killing the game or hurting the game the answer to that is no. I have played the game long enough to see alliances come and go and coalitions along with them. Any coalition can fall and some of the biggest and strongest the game has seen form have been dispatched. I think that coalitions are just a natural progression of the game and we will see over the next few years more form and more fall.
Oh good old technetium how I love thee. The one mineral that has defiantly helped make me as rich as I am today and has helped start so many wars that eve has had today. Do I believe it is broken yes and no. Yes back when it was 300k a unit then yes it was broken now days it hovers around 70k a unit give or take 10k I believe these moons provide content to null sec warfare. Do I believe this moon should be concentrated in 1 place all the time no I do not the idea of wars in the past was to give people a reason to fight or something to grab to advance there alliance. I do believe moons do need to be looked at to give alliances across eve some reason to hold there space and to also defend it what that is or what I think could work, I will leave until a later day to explain.

EDIT:
What is your opinion on OTEC, and major power blocs currently forcing NIPs to preserve the cartel?
My apologies last night was a night with the missus ie not eve or any games at all I like having some one warm to snuggle up to at night and people like Missbolyai see that as a weakness and like to see some one in the trenches with them. However no matter how much people try to derail and swear that i do not play I do play eve online I may not always do it on my PL chars but it is known by many that I still play the game sometimes more then i should...
Anyway now that I have gotten that out of the way your questions are interesting and deserve time taken to answer...
What's your opinion on supercapital proliferation and force projection in this matter?
I think the days of supercapital power projection are still around but not as big as before given that the nerf to the drone bay of supers and the nerf to titan guns means you absolutely need a sub cap fleet or at least a carrier based fleet to keep you safe from getting stuck and dying horrible. Do I think force projection is a good thing in eve online, yes I do it promotes evolution of other entities and springs up an arms race where all entities in eve do there best to equip themselves as well as they can.
What do you see could be done to change any aspects, if you desire any change?
This question is such a hard question to answer because of the fact that if i answer it and nothing of what i see could be changed isn't changed then I can be called on for promising something when in fact I am trying to be some one who works with both sides to get things accomplished. I am not trying to go to csm with 1 set thing I want to fix and then leaving everyone disappointed if I do not get it changed. So I cannot fully answer this question sorry.
What is your opinion on OTEC, and major power blocs currently forcing NIPs to preserve the cartel?
As one of the original people who sat at the table and created OTEC I can safely say I like it when myself Vile and a couple of others from PL sat down and made OTEC it was made to protect assets that we (ncdot at the time) had in the north so we could go and fight other entities that we saw fit to fight. The good things with deals like this is they are able to be broken to create great content in the game. NCdot much later after getting so much benefit from otec and filling the war chest decided to break the otec and managed to get a long and bloody war out of it. Right now a new cartel is developing in the south under the banner of NOTEC I am proud to say that I am apart of the creation of this cartel too and it will promote the raising of funds in the south to help create isk for many in the south so not all the wealth in the game can be found in the north...
I hope this answers your questions feel free to post more I do enjoy talking about eve even if i do tend to ramble on... |

Wow moving on to personal insults now against some one who has not even presented themselves in my campaign is sad to see. Its sad to see when some one cannot keep a debate to facts and not try to drag people in who do not deserve it.
For all that should know I have between 10 to 20 accounts and with these accounts I am logged into eve quite frequently. Through these accounts I keep updated with what goes on in eve from within Pandemic Legion and from outside of Pandemic Legion. The sad fact is I play this game way too much and the reason I decided to go for csm is because I believed that my hobby should move to the next level and I should help make my hobby into something special. If you want to go back 9 months ago then sure 9 months ago I also started my own business IRL having this experience did take me away from eve for a small time but only a matter of weeks as I set up my company to be the thriving thing that it is now. I am successful IRL I am successful in eve the reasoning for this is because I know what works in eve as i know what works in the business world. I want to bring these skills that I have into the csm and help benefit both parties I will represent like I would represent my company and my clients interests in the business world.
The fact is if you do not like my actions as running for csm in this election that is fine but if you believe you could do a better job maybe you yourself could run for csm and see how you hold up in the big world of politics. If not then I believe you are just another Paris Hilton propped up for way too long and when it comes down to the whistle being blown and time to put you foot on the line and stand up and mean something you won't. But the sad truth is like her you will like her probably forget to vote anyway.
As for your favor the answer is no I will not give you other people to bug and derail and try to drag through the mud like you have attempted here. Eve Online is not just about kills it is a thriving environment where all sides fight to survive that does not mean just killing that means survival through industry espionage and business and other aspects like are in the outside world, there is a reason why eve is unique and why it is more then a game where you login and shoot people. I run to represent not only the pvpers but the industrialists the spies the money makers the traders all the people that make the game of eve online what it is. You may rate a pilots wealth on how many people they have killed in this game but i value a pilots wealth on what they bring to this game not just who they shoot in it.
Good day to you sir. |

You're correct then I guess the personal insults were based at me, my mistake.
This basically means you have no interest in anymore debate you just intend to keep dragging me through the mud so no matter what I say you will just keep going. I am still going to run for csm and no amount of a smear campaign or how much mud slinging you do will keep me from this, if you do not want to vote for me simply do not.
I leave you with logs from our alliance channel on IRC
[05:35] Dvomayn: MissBolyai dropping the ******* mic on sort's csm thread [05:36] MissBolyai: Dvomayn: I'm sure I'll get pm'd about it [05:36] MissBolyai: but maybe not now that I put logs
This is basically a way for Missboylai to get a raise out of me and after being told by multiple people higher in pl then himself to leave him alone and let the troll have time in the sun. I will not keep this up and will not reply to any more of this persons posts... |

First off Thanks for the post and the questions, below I will do my best to answer your questions.
1) A) I do not 100% think Modular pos's are the answer to the problems at hand with starbases I think alot of people would like to think it the answer as ccp has suggested this and it really intrigued alot of people. To change anything with pos's means a complete overhaul of the game it would be the biggest change the game ever made even bigger then the sov work in dominion. I do not believe any game company should band-aid fix a problem in its game just to have to come back later and fix the issue again, I personally am happy to wait for ccp to come to the csm and the players with ideas they have and for us as csm to work with them on what could possible work and what we believe will not. I do not at all support ccp making a short hotfix to starbases no matter the change. If however they turn their focus completely to starbases I would do my best to work with them to fix the current problems in the mechanic.
2) A) Trying to change passive cloaking I do not support I believe its a valid tactic for a defender and some one attacking, trying to change it would be just making the game easier for a small group and right now I like the difficulty of the game is right where it needs to be in that area.
3) A) Ring mining is an interesting topic and I would love to see it in game however the time line for that I am sure is planned out and to make sure that it doesn't become such an influential money maker in 0.0 and low sec like moon mining did I am sure ccp want to take their time before introducing it. Moon mining personally for me I think is great it helps my corp make a fair amount of money and my alliance too. For the general game populace I do believe the distribution of wealth through moons and where they are located is broken and any way that ccp can improve this would be great.
4) A) The reason people are asking for a delayed local is because roaming in eve is unfortunately not as profitable as it was before for hunting people in different areas in the game, it is too easy for people to just safe up and wait for people to leave. I believe it could have its positives and negatives to it but no matter what they change with regards to local I am sure that is not the only problem with roaming out there.
5) A) Each of these topics you are asking about are not simple changes these are massive overhauls that take time. Missions in high sec have slowly gotten better over time some parts have not been changed and need working on. But it is still a simple fact that some one in empire can still make vast amounts of isk doing missions in high sec continuously for hours on end with little to no risk, so yes I believe missions do need a work on but I believe they should be made harder so people cannot so simply make huge amounts of isk for no risk.
6) A) Incursions like all other parts of the game that have been introduced in the past need there time in the sun. Each expansion ccp releases with new content or features needs its stress test and a chance for ccp to gather data on. I do not believe incursions have reached that point yet and need to be looked at yet in comparison to other parts of the game that have alot more problems with them and need closer attention first.
7) A) I think a logi only screen could be good sure but I think specially for pvp this would take the fun out of trying and training to be the best logi pilot you can. Being a logistic pilot and a good one at that puts you in a select group of people who keep people from dying in eve, some pilots like to fly with a simplified setup and some like flying with a big setup with lots of information coming in. I do not think you would be able to find a system or a logi screen that would work for all logi pilots in eve or even half the pilots in eve the thing that makes logi pilots special is they do it there way I think trying to give them a logi screen would take that away from them. However it may work and if ccp came with an idea I would sure look at it and from my experience flying logistics I would help them the best I could.
8) A) This is one thing I could defiantly get behind. If there is possibly a way to make this work even how you described it then yes I would defiantly want it to happen. Maybe something like how sentry carriers work where even though you aren't targeting your drones are assigned so they get you on kill mails, maybe they could make this work with whoever you rep you are linked to the killmails of those people who knows?

AFK skill training is right where it should be. Back a few years back for people who didn't know it was possible to train while you were unsubbed so because of this you could easily plug in a giant skill and leave it for a couple months without paying for the account. this mechanic i did not at all think was fair. I do however think the skill system right now does not have that many faults within it at all compared to what it has had in the past.

Yes its a factor, but not THEE Reason for the dyer situation null sec has been in content wise/oppertunity wise, real objective wise for a fair while now. Will you rise above this nonscence and act on the eve communitys behalf, influencing the game for the good of the many, rather than the current state of influencing, minipulating it so the rmt/botting fiasco can continue unharmed in peice. Do you not think the good of many, to influence the game for its Primary purpose "FUN", should not be out weighed by the exploits/benifits of the few for their RL & ingame wallets? Do you have any ideas about this - what you, as possible future CSM, would like to offer CCP for how to make everyone happy about titans....
First of thanks Baron for the support.
To answer your question titans are so hard to think about with regards to how I would change it I am not totally sure, me personally as a titan pilot I would like to be able to jump in and be able to have some kind of effect on a fight no matter if it is a sub cap fight or a capital engagement. How this could be I think is maybe give some of the gun damage back to the titan towards sub caps but maybe give them a siege module I am not completely sure. I just know right now flying a titan I feel quite redundant to be quite honest and I do not see any easy fix to make my titan or anyone's useful again. |
