Not a whole hell of allot. the system in question is a 0.4 system called Crielere. Everyone is poised around this big ring orbiting planet I which probably has no significance to the news event posted. There have been several shuttles destroyed, a couple poddings, but for the most part nothing much going on. Everyone is just trying to claim, "the big ring that does nothing" for their own.
I wouldn't suggest warping in with a battleship or anything unless you plan on killing everyone in the area. Concord does not seem to be attacking ship attackers or podders unless you warp to a gate.. Of course if you warp to a gate while in the area someone's ship was destroyed or podded you will be attacked by Concord as well.
Just some FYI info :)

For some reason the image makes me think it's a device for space wedding ceremonies. Pairs of players can fly through the ring each in their respective ship and get insta-married this way.... :s
Alternatively could be the warp gate to Jove space *shrugs*

Looks like any other ring debris I've seen while exploring. Don't see why that particular one would be special. There are plenty of these rings through-out the galaxy, but you already know that i'm sure. ---------------------------------------

well now it's getting a little more interesting. X-Factor corp showed up with 4 Megathron battleships which was a sight to see. Definately proves that battleships will soon be as common as cruisers. :)

I'm sure when I examined the ring structure it was called a "Caldari / Gallente platform" or something like that - suggests that it's the foundations for a new construction of some sort ?

In BETA, when they gave away 10 stations to player corps to try out, they started with 'platforms' and built up from there. ================================================

my theory:
since this is a station construction platform (according to the name of this junk ring), a station is bound to be constructed there..
recall this from the news:
"Military forces from both sides are gathering in the constellation and freighters carrying heavy loads of construction material have been ordered over there. "
DUH, indies with ore.. going to a station CONSTRUCTION PLATFORM
it doesnt take a GENIUS to see that a station is going to be built there.. and yes this looks like the structure for one of those 3-ring stations in gallente space
perhaps after this station is constructed, we will be able to dock and buy our own platform bp's from it? seems like a good waste of time to me, the other possibility is that the devs want a massive free for all battle with the station going to the winnner, in which case those with less than 5 battleships stand no chance :\ _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. well then the question that needs to be aske,d is does this 'platform' have a circular or square targetting box... circular - u can kill it, square as yet u cant......
could it not be a gate construction rather than a station? as in... the caldari/gallente open a gate to jovo space.. the jovos ain't at all happy, and come in blazing... thus war.

What is funny is the fact that there are lots of rings like that all over the systems around the EVE universe.
But if a GM came in and said something about it... well, it makes things more interesting. _______________________________________________

Before you die you see the ring...
Thank you for the nice screenie of our little fleet, nails :-)
What amused me about this thing was the people aggressively guarding it, shooting people getting too close to the spacedonut, threatening people to keep their distance or else... That's why I called in some BS to see just how far they wanna go to guard.... nothing.
No, really. There is probably nothing to claim, there isn't going to be a station and even if there is going to be a station, it's not going to magically pop up in 1-2 hours either. Maybe it's a cruel ploy of CCP to see how we react to this sort of thing as a psychological test.
My guess is this all will most likely erupt in a free-for-all king of the hill contest when this event goes to the next phase and things become more clear as to what it is going to be :)
Edit: Oh we also came to see if there were any notorious pirates to kill, unfortunately all candidates left the scene shortly after our arrival :-)

One ring to rule them all...
Well that is rather amusing that folks would sit around blasting each other over rights to stare at the big ring in space.
I have this bad feeling that after all the buildup, what the Caldari and Gallante are working on will be something really boring. "Look! a faster gate between Caldari and Gallante space!", weee.

It is strange, after me and my friends went out to see this ring and what all the hoopla was about, we got a strange eve-mail.

What was even stranger, was there was no sender listed. Hmm..

Quote from News page:
More details uncovered on secret research pact The rumors regarding the research pact between the Gallente Federation and the Caldari State have now been substantiated, though the nature of the research still remains unclear. Inside sources have revealed that the two empires have earmarked a secret location somewhere in the Lolbrerie constellation to be the site of their research project. Military forces from both sides are gathering in the constellation and freighters carrying heavy loads of construction material have been ordered over there. The empires are still to make any official announcements on the matter, so until then all we can do is speculate.

Those who missed out on actually being awake so early in the morning you didn't miss much. Well maybe you could have rented office space in two new stations that have direct significance to Caldari and Gallente relations. Who knows what kinds of technologies these two stations will pump out in the future, but as of now they sell nothing.. not even a round of iron S. These two stations are not yet on the Crielere system listing yet, but I'm sure they will be added eventually. Here is a picture of what it looked like right after downtime:

I can't see it being a station - that seems a little unadventurous given that two sovereign states with an acrimonious history feel the need to cooperate on it. Any old corp could build a station.
Unless, of course, they plan on creating some kind of dream given form, a station located in neutral space where different races can meet to work out their differences peacefully. A port of call, home away from home for diplomats, hustlers, entrepreneurs, and wanderers. Our last, best hope for peace. ;-)
Or maybe not.
Either way, it's got my interest up. Looking forward to seeing where this leads :)

I am not being attacked at the ring, but the only difference in this ring and all the other rings throughout the Eve universe is its name Gallente/Caladari building platform. But I am being attacked at all the Jumpgates by both factions even though my sec ratings are high for both.
Weird that I can't leave the solar system, but, I can camp at their "secret" building platform...
