I am curious if anyone has run into this particular little bug with POS's.
I have my POS set up to allow Alliance Members yet one day one of the alliance members warped to it and was lit up like a Christmas tree which caused the loss of his ship.
10 minutes prior to this I had some other alliance members there while we waited to go ratting in a complex. I am curious as to wether or not this has happened to any of you and your alliance.
Any info will be appreciated.
Thanks, Chef

For one thing bumping into the starbase shield is considered an act of aggression and will cause all guns to change targets to your ship if its during an attack (this can have hilarious results).

There are a plethora of POS bugs. Some documented, some not, and no one knowing which are and aren't.
In your case, always assume the tower will shoot.

That's just it. He was allowed access to the POS but it ignored the settings and lit him up anyway.

Could be it was set to fire on neg standings or on aggression and was flagged somehow ?

Nope. My POS doesn't fire upon neutrals or people with status of 0.0. It'll only fire if someone has a negative standing/status or if it is fired upon.
None of these were the case with him.

Happened to my Crow once
I think it was because my last act had been aggressive, I had destroyed a shuttle near the POS (empty), and my sec status dropped 0.25% or whatever (still positive, something like 2.4)
Because I did that, it counted as a decreasing sec status and shot me

This particular person was in a hauler and was in no position to commit an aggresive act.

I would say check your settings. If the POS is set to attack on agression, i don't think it matters who agressed who. ___________________________

At the time of the incident I had checked and rechecked the settings. They were set properly. No one aggressed anything. He only warped to my POS in an unarmed hauler only to be blown to bits upon dropping out of warp.
Also, as I said before, there were other alliance members there 10 minutes prior to this incident taking place.
It is a clear and obvious bug that needs to be addressed.

Unfortunately POS bugs do exist. Very experienced POS users even have had war enemies enter the POS and steal ships. No setting errors the errors are in the code.
Sort of like the code errors in R&D where a research agent gives 4 bpo to same character, thus not a true lottery system unless you believe lighting strikes the same guy four times (naw I am not bitter). Life is not as random as you might believe. But I do try and tell myself this universe is not real its EVE. |
