Will DUST514 be coming to the next gen consoles? Will it still be PlayStation exclusive? |

We're slated for the PS4 as an exclusive for another year.
Next Box whatever it is rather mum about it, but if they don't change their policies and exclusive wears off I don't see dust 514 porting over.

Link?
Arbitrarily dodged questions and a sudden slowdown of development ever since the Developer Kits shipped combined with xbox's lives refusal to change policies still.

I actually think the groundwork is being laid right now for Dust to be a PS4 launch title. Only time will tell for sure though.

What I wonder is did development chatter about the Vita Neocom app go dark because CCP is working on making it where you can stream the PS3 version of the game to the VIta?

From the PS4 event yesterday, game streaming to mobile devices is going to be a game changer, if done correctly, of course. I'd see either streaming the actual game (a likely possibility) or having advanced interaction with mobile devices (anything from displaying the map, target locations, spawn points, etc. to providing access to skill and fitting setups) as very real possibilities.
I know it was in another context, but a while back CCP said that it would be happy to provide access to the EVE Universe through a variety of devices, with the example given that PI would have probably been more successful (fun) on a tablet device.
If DUST is coming to PS4, which I expect it will, then I'd expect a similarly high level of interaction across a variety of platforms and interfaces.

What I'm really excited about is the prospect of native streaming on the console. That opens a whole world of Esports possibilites and makes it super accessible.

These are simply the oens who are publicly revealed to be onboard for PS4, since DUST is going to on the PS3/PS4 simultaneously, they might not have felt it appropriate to label them with this group.
also, CCP might just not have given enough of a **** to ask to be on the list. |

At this point, it's all speculation. I'd wager that the answer is 'yes', at least for the PS4 -- there's no reason to release solely for the PS3 when the next-gen model is just around the corner.

I am still baffled at how many of you keep hoping/thinking DUST 514 will magically become a PC game. In fact there is little to no reason to bring it to the PC. Players who play FPS prefer it on consoles. Not by a little, but by a dramatic amount. When Battlefield 3 went on sale, in the first week there was 3.7 million being played on consoles and the PC pulled in a pathetic 500k. Not to mention that FPS games on PC is plagued with auto-aim bots and high amounts of piracy. Sure you can go on about graphics and the keyboard and mouse and even connection if you want, but the numbers don't lie.
Simply put, FPS players prefer the console over the PC any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

That's quite a sweeping statement.
I know a large number of FPS players that prefer the higher degree of control they get from a keyboard and mouse. as well as the (generally) better sound quality they can get from their 7.1 surround sound systems that they have attached to their PC.
now, yes, you 'can' use a keyboard and mouse on a PS3, but you can't just claim that 'FPS players prefer consoles' as it is simply not true.
some do, some do not.
it's exactly the same thing as racing games or flight sims. |

Then how do you explain the sales numbers? The majority by a large margin of FPS being played are on consoles. I'm not debating which one has the better graphics or controls or even connection.

The numbers indicate that lots of people who own consoles like FPS games. It does not mean that people who like FPS games prefer them on consoles.

If all you want it for is DUST, why pay far more for a machine that will give you the same game. The price of PS3s is likely to fall when the PS4 launchers, especially 2nd hand ones.
