i had this thought, i know its stupid but i just thought it could be fun.
your out in an empire system, minding your own business, you warp to a moon and when u arrive theres a wormhole, which u can approach and get a message asking if u wish to go thru. so u go through and woosh, your in a totally random system (anywhere on map, even deep 0.0).
the wormholes wouldnt be a fixed thing, they let like 1 or 2 ships through them then they collapse so no one else can jump through :)
imagine being in 0.0 being chased by some big fleet, u think your gonna die, so u start warping between moons to try break them up so u can get thru the gate and infront of u is a wormhole.....so u jump thru in a desperate hope to save yourself, and either
a) you end up in yulai with the carebears (yulai used as an example, could be any empire system) b) you end up in some real random system on the other edge of the universe
just an idea,
what u guys think?

CCP would have a hard time explaining, in terms of storyline, why wormholes suddenly appear and then dissapear again within a few hours when ships go through them. In all of Science Fiction ever created, wormholes have been stable passages through space and time that DON'T collapse after a ship passes through it by. Sure I guess a huge electric chare or nearby supernova could collapse one, but thats not gonna happen in EVE without slaughtering countless innocent carebearers The EVE wormhole that lead to the New Eden system was, after they found it, around for another 100 years IIRC until it collapsed.

I would like to see semi permanent wormholes appear in low sec, connecting to other low sec areas. Pirates/people with low sec rating complain a lot about being cut off from other areas by patches of empire space and this would be a rather elegant solution.
And more routes into mid 0.0 never hurts... _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base? |

interestind idea a simple solution would be that say 100 would be seeded at each downtime in random spots - perhaps high sec to high sec - low sec to low sec - you could find them with systems scanenrs (3au only). Once 5 ships go through then they collapse. At the next dt new spawns are generated.

As a matter of fact if you read the Back story theres a Very easy way for CCP to rationalize unstable wormholes.......ever hear of somethign called the Evegate? or whatch that fancy Intro movie? i'm sure the designers of that would be mighty up set if you don't think there are unstable worm holes in the Eve-erse

I guess someone doesn't watch Farscape. I thinm it's a wonderful idea and since no one knows anything about wormholes(especially since they can't prove the existance) I think it would be a sweet addition. Funny thing would be approaching that gate and someone popping out and gnking you on accident.

Wormholes, IMO, should be galaxy-to-galaxy. System-to-sytem is jumpgates. The idea of pirate-owned, secret, or non-standard jumpgates is pretty cool, though. Maybe you could only see them in your map if you had high enough faction standings with the owners.

I love this idea wud b great to have tons of randomly appearing wormholes around the eve universe... Comeon whats a si fi game without wormholes Be good if maby as a random event a wormhole would open infrout of u and suck u in if ur afk and take to to a random system [High sec of course so u dont get massacred by rats]
