Energy cannot be created or destroyed. Therefore, when the new universe explodes within ours, we will simply, at the molecular level, become part of it. In fact, it may be so seemless, that perhaps we are continuously shifting realities due to universe explosions and not even realize it. Thus is existance.

I love the way its graphically been portrayed recently, and very obviously.
We wil be looking the other way when it happens - there is some serious math backing that up.

Read about that on Ars Technica a few days ago. I don't think we have anything to worry about. Slight differences in the readings make a massive difference in the universe's stability and those measurements they took have a relatively huge margin of error. |

two cents on my beliefs here
(more of a seemingly logical persuasion, though not true logic as admittedly I can't support the logic with an evidence based argument)
The universe is not infinite in 3 dimensional expanse, but the very existence of the dimensions themselves are merely physical traits of the universe. As such, it could be considered infinite in every respect, as to presume anything outside of that respect is outside of reality and existence.
Just as you've probably heard from a mathematician or physicists comment regarding the terminology of a 'mulitverse' .... if another universe explodes to life within ourselves, then it remains a part of our UNIverse, as does anything else we can observe or conclude as existing.
Perhaps (almost certainly) our discussions of these topics are constrained by our very limited senses and the perspectives they lend us on perceiving our reality. That said...
if we can assume math at it's basics to be correct and our logic to be somewhat sound then I believe either this universe is a one shot deal that will eventually dissipate into an emptiness of eternally frozen matter... or, all of this is truly eternally perpetuated. (I'm not sure which would make it more precious and fascinating.)
A binge and purge cycle. That all of this at least had the opportunity to happen before and will play out again and again and again, though whether events are repeated exactly or if chaos reigns supreme within a truly infinite life/death cycle is anyones guess.
Imagine, an infinite progression of realities built on the ashes of the past, inevitably yielding to the next.
Conversely, imagine nothingness. We truly aren't capable of either but the previous seems much more likely to me. However the latter is absolutely fascinating to entertain,
what if there was truly nothing and then something (creation)? And that if this reality is doomed to revisit that nothingness again, balancing the equation and that reality itself was some freak accident inside a nothingness we can't even comprehend?
What if these instances (floabw) as we see them in our own perceived time/space continuum are in another given dimension (or perspective if you will) simultaneous and concurrent and the cycle is a balance that preserves their separation at other dimensions (perspectives) ....like the aforementioned we are stuck observing with our limited meatsack vessels?
Again, I don't think we are properly equipped to deal with these questions. I think we spend more time trying to deal with our inability to conceive concepts such as the infinite and nothingness than we do anything else. And even those of us that were specially gifted to gain some insight at a fundamental (mathematical) level are not properly equipped to explain it to the rest of us :P ...
but perhaps one day we will find enlightenment..
and when that day comes we'll get to find out whether this universe (however you may apply that word) is all just so impossibly complicated,
or if we will realize that it's so much simpler than we could have ever imagined,
and the truth was right in front of us this entire time. We just couldn't get past the inherent deficiencies in the perceptions nature has left us to wrestle with.
I love this crap.
How can we be so gifted as to imagine all the possibilities but not gifted enough to deduce which is the proper explanation?
Or do we understand nothing at all, and what we consider philosophy is just us dazzling ourselves with our own bullshit? |
