Hello everyone, I'm posting this to warn all of you against the sad Beta Bank. I met him in a chat room, told him I had lost everything I owned recently (a retriever) after working very hard for it, and since he kept on boasting about his ISK pile I asked if I maybe could have spare change for a restart. He did not want to give it to me, which is fine of course he is not obliged to it.
Later however he told me he felt sad about my loss, and said that whatever I had left ; he would double it. I would not have done this if he was alone in the chat, scammers are everywhere I know. But alot of people in the chat supported him, saying he was rich and trustworthy, so I felt he was. He however, was not. He stole everything I had left, everything, and to top it off he had put this bounty on me. Not only did he stole everything I had left, he also made my career impossible due to this bounty.
I hope you people will never trust this person who calls himself Beta Bank or his friends anymore, they're all very sad, and push me forward to quit this game.

The bounty will not keep you from mining. If someone does gank you, sell their kill rights for the cost you lost plus a little more.
A 2 week old character is not a total loss even if you recycle it, so if you are really worried about the bounty, make a new character, transfer all you have to it and recycle the old.
Also how much money can a 2 week old character really have that one scam ruins the entire game? |

Nope. It wasn't rude at all. It was rude of you to donate him all your remaining isk and then demand it back. Especially since nearly all the out-of-game attention we get is because of massive scams and 3/4 of the posts in this very forum are about scammers and scams. If with all that public knowledge and the fact that the scam you mention is nearly 10 years old you still sent him ISK....can I haz your stuffs? |

If any of you took the time to PM me and ask me how I'd lost it, I would've told you how. I will now too anyway, although I'm a bit ashamed to talk about it. I lost it on a scam contract at Jita, the very first time I came there. I learned alot from it though, never going to visit Jita agai untill more experienced and won't take any contracts with high amounts of money. I was pissed of course, but not so much pissed as from the scam from BB, since he simply ignored me after instead of insulting me over and over.
Hope I didn't stop you from hating him though.. By all means, keep on going..  |

What area of space do you operate in? Caldari, Amarr, Gallente, or Minmatar? I dont ask this to come hunt you down but if you are in Caldari space or wish to travel there I have a Retreiver that you can have if you want to pick it up. |

If he wanted to give you money, why would he ask for money from you? That makes no sense whatsoever. Why wasn't this a red flag? Did losing your retriever not already teach you that not everyone is here to hold hands around a campfire and sing kumbaya? Didn't your mother ever tell you not to trust strangers, especially not when they offer you candy? Not to mention you've broken the first rule of Eve; not flying anything you can't afford to lose. You have displayed a profound lack of basic common sense so far, but apparently you don't think you've managed to make yourself look bad enough yet and went on to complain about a system you don't understand. Nobody cares about your bounty. You're not in an expensive ship so the payout is negligible. Even if you were in an expensive ship, your bounty is probably not nearly as high as you think it is.

Joran I never said I was good or something so it's pretty obvious this thread makes me look bad, don't think I dont know. I'm just warning the community here. And as for the first rule of EVE, well, I did not break it since I did not went into any dangerous zones, except for Jita being full of scammers maybe.
And like I said I only trusted him because nearly the whole chat supported him.. I know there are lots of scammers, but didn't know this many random players would join together to punish a noob.
And about the corp part lol, you made me laugh. |

They were either his alts or his friends. That or they simply noticed you didn't immediately recognize the scam like someone who isn't in a coma would normally be expected to do and thought it would be funny.

Yes you did. Eve is a dangerous area. All of it. The second rule is that you consent to PvP by undocking. There are areas where people will face more punishment for attacking you, but there are none that prevent them from doing so. |

Everything in this thread. Trusting complete strangers in a situation you (hopefully) wouldn't in real life, despite said strangers being anonymous and having to face far less consequences than they would in the equivalent real life situation. Lacking basic common sense. Refusing to learn from mistakes. Complaining about systems you don't understand and apparently made no attempt to. Joining a corp full of scrubs that will throw you out for literally nothing because they also don't understand how bounties work and then being upset that you can no longer hang out with the people who just mistreated you. Posting a rage thread over losing some pixels. Etc. I thought I had already covered this. |
