I'm hoping soon to return to doing lvl 4 missions, and have come up with the idea that a cerb and a bs (Tempie or apoc), might make good partners.
Cerb for taking out frigates and small cruisers, bs for taking out everything else. Though I've heard that npc's switch targets now. Will I die in the cerb? or can it take abit of a beating?
I can out-tank anything on lvl 3 but lets face it this isn't a challenge.
I have an X-type large booster fitted, and have resists of kin 85%, and therm 92% (Hoping to only fight gurista's).
Has anyone used a cerb or HAC on lvl 4 missions?

Edited by: ormondroid on 01/08/2005 15:26:45 Used the Cerb to solo L4 missions prior to Cold War being released. The shield resistances are pretty good (except for EM), you just need range for the Cerb, and lots of it.
I used to engage from about 80/85kms and there wasn't very much that could get close to me and I could tank the damage of whatever could get close enough to hit me pretty well.
Cerb+BS sounds a good option, just remember to try to keep out of range in it (the Cerb), once the shield goes there's not a lot between you and your pod

If you are going to use any HAC for lvl 4's make sure and check what the optimals for the BSs are.
If you are stitting at at a range where the BS's can track you, it hurts.
In most cases if you orbit the BSs at 25 km you are going to be OK.

Yes they do switch targets and if u get caught with fast crusier like mordus infernos or mortifiers it might be tight spot but the real problem will be with drones and rouge dommis , for example the first spwan at the jump point of silence the informant , if the dommi and its friends switch their fire to u ur gona be pooooooooooooof , i didnt test it but i doubt a hac will withstand the fire power of this magnitude sicne i tried ti with a ferox and my pal couldnt take it and he went poof also "What ever that doesnt Kill me just makes me stronger" |

Edited by: Kakita J on 01/08/2005 16:42:02 I used to run lvl 4 missions with a Cerb as tank and Apoc as damage dealer. Apoc had one best named large energy transfer that was only activated now and then when I passed it doing my loops, worked alright. If you orbit BS with an AB you can get them to miss you rather often... I can't believe it myself now that I write it, but it worked vs a group of 3 BS once, probably weak+low tracking ones.
Cerb is great at taking out small stuff for sure, I ran 5 Arby assaults for a while, but that setup can't kill cruisers in any reasonable time (but gives you grid for shield extenders or other fun stuff)
edit: You can also put on a couple of target painters (works great to help your BS buddy hit stuff) if you have someone else tanking. Then again, a Scorp does the same thing and might actually be cheaper (both isk and skill wise).

It is possible to run lvl4 missions solo in a cerb, there are some which are a lot tougher to do, and there are some ships who's tank will give the cerb a headache, however it is possible as i have done them.
No i will not tell you my set-up, if you're flying a HAC you should be in a position to work out how to fit it. (nothing personal) =============================================
My sig got edited, and all i got was a lousy e-mail |
