ô Yes I did use T2 for a number of reasons. As the extender T1 frigate setup already has 30% to 60% more hitpoints you need to use the T2 plates to catch up.ö I think that came wrong I meant to say with T1 plates the total ships amour hitpoints are less then the total ships extender shield hitpoints.
So far the extender frigates have 30 to 60% more hitpoints and thatÆs with T1 extenders. So you need T2 plates to catch up with T1 extenders. I do agree the module 1v1 the plates have more hitpoints but when you fit them on your ships the shield ships come out better as there are more ways to boost shield hitpoints with +% things then there are amour +% things.

"Compared to the Kestrel with a 400mm plate my damage output is bigger as I can fit a full weapon system on with 150mm railguns. I also have more then 60% more hitpoints making me a better tank and unlike the Kestrel and plate ships I have decent hp regen at 16 HP/s. So as a tank and damage dealer I do a decent job and itÆs a cheap ship to lose when things go wrong."
Kestrel is probably unfortunate ship to compare, in that she's easy opponent here ^^ Very ill suited for fitting oversized modules -- with auxiliary cores in both low slots and medium shield extender she won't even have enough grid left to mount two rocket launchers... with 400 mm plate she can sport 4 rocket launchers, webber and scrambler, but is in no position to control the fight range which pretty much cripples her as rockets are short range weapon.
Mind you though, if you compare 4x rocket launchers on Kestrel vs 2x 150mm rails plus missile launcher on Tristan, Kestrel does ~10 dps more... 42'ish vs 32'ish of Tristan... and can actually hold down the enemy if they make mistake of getting too close.
"Is there any reason not to use 1 small extender and 1, 200mm plate? Never looking into how practical that is, I have to try that tomorrow."
Do you mean it as in, tech.2 extender and the armour plate? For the extra hp alone it might be quite worth it, but i feel given the fitting requirements of the extender you're much more valuable addition to the team if you put there any sort of EW module -- disruptor, target painter, web, scrambler, jammer, you name it... it has the considerable advantage of helping your whole gang, as opposed to just yourself.

Well, when we would came back to the "real" frigate warrios, we would see that neither interceptors nor aussault frigs have the CPU to fit shield extenders. Maybe a taranis has normal frigate CPU but at least on matari ships even a damage mod is impossible to fit for CPU reasons, same for long range disruptors and so on.
Basicly its impossible to fit something that needs more then 40 CPU, cause that will be nearly 1/3 of your CPU. But both ceptors and aussault frigs have the PG to fit armor extenders quite decently, some ships like claw dont even make a real sacrifice, since thy can still fit their best short range guns. And in a fight, you need all mids free for MWD/AB and scrambler, webbers and EW. Every other setups are pretty much not usefull at all for most combat situation.
In a frig fleet you have EW frigs/scrambler and webbers, all mixed on special ship. Some ships like stilletos/vigil will do the Scambling part. Kestrels are best on EW stuff and you use aussault frigates as damage dealers. The only possiblity to use your shield extenders would be on this damage dealers. But basicly you wont have CPU and the need to use shield extenders on them. Execpt Matari aussaults thy have crappy shield resistances anyway.
Ahh what did I wanted to say?
Right, on a single hunting frig you need al midslots anyway, and 1500 armor is all you really want. In teamfights 200 plates are better then shield extenders too.
So end of discussion?

its impossible to fix, since midslots are mucho more valuable then lowslots

My solution: give ships more mid slots.

Well the T1 frigates showed to me so far cannot fit everything with 400mm plates. In fact I have managed to fit more with my extenders then the plate setups with T1 ships though it does depend on the ship. So far the T1 plate ships shown have less hitpoints and could not fit weapons and EW.
Rifter with 3x200mm autocannons, 1MN AB, web, MAPC and 400mm plate. I think its fairly popular setup.
