We all know by now about the officer NPCs that spawn in 0.0 systems and wtfbbq everything but a small fleet on their own. My question is; What decided that they all HAD to be battleship NPCs? Why is most officer loot only useful for battleships?
Perhaps we could get cruiser and frig officers that appear in 0.0 more often than the battleship officers, and have cruisers appear very rarely in 0.1 - 0.4 and officer frigs appear there about as often as the named belt rat.
Putting them in HACs or AFs, or perhaps other T2 or elite ships and designs would be interesting.
As for loot...How about "<insert name>'s modified auxillary power core with +15 to grid? There's a host of frig sized modules that lack a Cool¡Ö version. Micro Cap battery perhaps, or maybe missile launchers of frig and cruiser sizes..and other weapons for that matter? Maybe a Modified small EMP smartbomb that has an explosion radius of 5Km? Just tossing out some ideas.

They exist, I've seen them, but I don't cruise 0.5->0.1 belts much. Also there are +13 pg MAPCs out there - they're complex rewards for the most part AFAIK.
But I agree that we should perhaps see some of them in 0.0 - they can even be in little assault frig wolf packs similar to what human players run around in.

I've seen stuff like Shadow Serepntis Celestis', if that's what you mean, but I spent the last 4 months ratting in 0.1 off and on and so many of those, but never once any kind of named officers in a cruiser or frig...or battleship for that matter(obviously).

I always get these confused. I think officer spawns are the dread guristas, shadow serpentis, ect and the named ones like kaikka puenato are called commanders (?).
Would be cool to see more of them anyway, don't care what they fly!

There should be more "Name Officer" spawns out there in the form of frigates and cruisers... More Officer/Commander BS Spawns too :P

Good point. We need less high-end content to be BS-only anyhow. More elite frigate/cruiser spawn in 0.0 please.
Also, if you could somehow make such encounters MORE difficult to pull off in a BS or with some cruiser loadouts.. that'd be swell. And not just an extra torp or ten mind you.
Maybe you could have big, but distributed swarms, and the npc engagement trigger is modified by sig radius? Bigger sig = npc clumps are attracted to you from a bigger radius. Like 3x radius so smaller moving platforms have some maneuvering room.
Preferably not just at asteroid clumps ya know.

well i handt npc'd in a 0.4 for few months, went out in my ishkur and found a true sansha enslaver and a true sansha ravager, got some true sansha armor mods from it  --------------------------------------------

I think the reason that commanders drop BS loot is because that is the most rare and valuable. But officer frig or cruiser mods would be awesome. Mmm Taranis with three Naiyon's modified 125mm rail.

I quite agree. Note I didn't ask for them to spawn in 1.0 noob systems, mkay? At worst, it'd be an ultra rare officer frig spawn in a 0.4 system. Good point, hadn't thought of that. Further risk to balance the reward. Furthermore, as a pirate, you'd run the chance that the belt ratter had already looted an officer and get uberloot from kills.

Actually adding these to low sec wouldnt annoy me .... the big big money would still be in the 0.0 spawns, but pirates can get their fill in the people npcing in 0.1-0.4

Omg.... it must be done... simply for the amount of whining that would occur... make it that a faction spawn's chances of happening increase with every mining laser in a 1 au area of the belt :).

Agreed on frig/cruiser officers spawning in lowsec/shallow 0.0. Also 0.0 spawns should have more diversity, not that each spawn should be a whole damn fleet but some spawns should be frigs, some should be cruisers, some should be BS. Big problem with 0.0 right now is you basically have to have a BS or HAC to take advantage of the moneymaking options (or be one hell of a ninja miner) and a lot of people either cant or dont want to fly their BS in such hostile situation.
