Allow them to launch while cloaked, but put a much longer cool down on the launchers. Basic X 3 or something?!?
Don't give them covert ops cloaks, but allow them to sit in waiting for prey. With the new missiles skills they would deal alot of damage, but not enough to kill off large targets while cloaked.
Please, someone in the know about cruise missiles vs frigates mention if the damage is enough to pwn.
I see the bad side of this also, but just trying to get some ideas started as I bought 2 of them for play fun and they are crap

What your asking for is an invisible army. that can fight cloaked.
What the Covert ops Ships do need is the Ability to decloack - Lock - Fire - Recloak without the missiles missing their target.
At the moment the Stealth bombers are extremely gimped, but at least they are plummeting down in price. My Advice is to stock up on them now Because if they get ungimped the Prices will go rocket again. |

The invisible army thing is right, but at least there are ways of making that impossible. Increasing the ROF is one way.
I would prefer sujestions to improve them here, not advice to stock up on them mate

Which Is why ive suggested allowing to cloak fire and decloak as opposed to firing while cloaked.
They could be, by very nature extrmely worthwhile using.
What they need is faster locking times. and to be able to decloak arfter firing without the missiles losing lock and missing.
I used to play around with a hound with 2 sensor boosters and a passive targing module, I could sit at 100 kms and launch the missiles.
The locking time was still ridiculously long.
The idea behind the ships is cool What we need now is to make the ships cool. |

Bombers need a couple of things.
First they need a Bomber Cloak, basically like prototype cloak in terms of stats except it lets you warp while cloaked. On second thought how about just changing all the cloaks to let you warp while cloaked (but at some godawful speed like 0.5au/s) as it really gimps their effectiveness.
Second they need to be able to target (but not shoot) while cloaked, as well as use various non combat mods like scanners while cloaked. Covops should do this too if they dont already (I dont fly one so I dont know for sure).
Third they need to be able to recloak and have the missles hit their target. In addition, after the cool-down time they need to be able to recloak even if someone has them targeted.
In addition we need some sort of cloak-dropper smartbomb that drops all cloaks in like a 30km radius. Should be able to be fitted on frigates and destroyers (maybe make the device have huge cpu cost and a 90% reduction on frig/dess, sort of like the gang modules are with BC's). _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base? |

I agree with all Of the points except the 1st one. If we allow Warp While cloaked, Covert ops Ships become defunct.
And there needs to be a countermeasure to Decloak a vessel, A decloaking smart bomb would be good or even a deployable module that doesn't allow cloaking within its Field (Like mobile warp disruptors).
With regards to cloack when targeted, I think there ought to be a module that breaks lock instantly allowing the to cloak. At least that way if they have that module fitted thats something else they've sacrifieced to fit it. |

They could make a real bomber...something battle cruiser sized, decent resistances, long targeting range, can move around 800m/sec.
6 turrets for shooting down fighters/erhm interceptors :) and mounts 2 citadel torpedo launchers with some awesome velocity bonus, but **** ROF.
That would be kinda fun haha. Just made that up as I wrote, but with some tweaking that could be a fun and balanced ship.
The skills required to use one would be up there. Like BC level V and alot of missile skills as well. Forget cloaking, just have it big and fast and decently tough. But make it have crap cap so or limit its slots so it cant tank well....just fly quick and deploy those 1, maybe 2 volleys of citadel torpedos....or maybe even a special new munition and new launcher, only the bombers use.

Actually no, the real glory of covops is being able to run probe scans really really really fast. I see a lot of covops out and about that dont even have the fancy cloak, they just run around scanning people. The ubah cloak doesnt hurt though. 
Anyway I think the ECM burst mod was supposed to break target lock, but it really sucks and is essentially broken. Nope the main ability of the cov ops is the ability to warp while cloacked. The scanner thing is just the icing on the cake. icing dont taste so nice without cake.

First get a fast locker. Recomending a inty. Secondly there's somethin called ECM it's designed to break lock. What's the point nerfing covertops ships. They are just fine as they are.
Now for bombers. They are probably still balancing them and they'll probably get some other good functions in the future.
