Hi peeps
Just started going into complexes and really enjoying it! Now im using rails at the moment but im finding the battleships get really close very quickley and my guns normally start to fail at 25KM-. After that point im down to drones and missiles/torps.
I want to try blasters but would they be better than rails? If so Ion's, Neutrons or Electron's?
Thanks :)

Blasters for teh fun. Assuming you're in a Megathron, fit a full rack of neutrons and then build your setup off of that.
I'm currently using:
7x modal mega neutron particle accelerator (antimatter)
1x 100mn Afterburner 1x Heavy Capacitor Booster (800s) 1x Sensor Booster T2
1x Large 'Accomodation' Repairer 1x Medium T2 Armor Repairer 2x Hardeners 1x Magnetic Stabilizer T2 2x Cap Relays
As many heavies as your skills/drone bay can hold. Put 4 800s in the cap injector, then 4 in your hold and fill the rest of the hold with antimatter charges. I usually leave about 10m3 of space though for loot/overseers. -----------------------------------------------

Damn didn't know it was so easy to fit a full rack of them and a tank with no powergrid mods ------------------------------------------

Last time I tried it was CPU that made that loadout totally impossible. Perhaps those named units make it work... BTW, the poster left out a midslot (unless someone nerfed the Megathron while I wasn't looking). I'd suggest cap II for last middie, as well as replacing the sensor booster II.
To the original poster, if the complexes you are going are all/most close range ships, a blaster loadout (or autotempest) is a good call, but for agent missions always mind who you'll be fighting, if you run into a bunch of medium or long range NPCs your blasterthron will be useless.

Yep, fits fine. I have a test setup (by "test setup" I mean my fitting on Singularity) that's like that: 7 Modal Mega Neutron 1 Arbalest Assault Launcher
1 Quad Lif MWD 1 Warp Disruptor 1 Webber 1 Heavy Electrochemical Cap Booster
1 Large Acco Armor Rep 3 energized hardeners (37.5%) 2 damage mods 1 power diag
If you take out the MWD and put an AB instead, you can replace the power diag with a cap relay in my setup. A Medium Armor Rep II will also fit just fine if you take out one of the hardeners. And yes, named items are a must here :)

Disregarding the other comments on that setup, here's a real question; Why the **** are you using a sensor booster when NPCing with blasters?
Soon... Very soon...

It all fits. Keep in mind though, i have electronics 5 and advanced weapon upgrades 3. And i left out a cap recharger T2 for that last midslot.
And why a sensor booster? To lock onto pesky frigs/cruisers.
If you remove the cap injector you can swap out the medium T2 for another large repairer, however, your cap will get pwned. -----------------------------------------------

your fittings dont stand long against a ion fitted mega with tank and 2 magnetics it whould tank you and ripp you apart ions with 2 stabs get same damage as neuts and better tracking

If im fighting players. This setup works for npcing, which is what he wanted. And if it was pvp, i wouldn't use blasters, i'd use rails and i'd snipe. -----------------------------------------------
