The bonus says
"Bonus: 5% reduced chance of damage penetrating the shield."
I trained it to level 2 figuring it would improve my shield resists by 10% but I'm not seeing it.
Does this just work on shield hardners and if so how?
i.e. What does this skill REALLY do ???

Well, suposidly at one time, there was suposed to be ammo/shots that pierced shields and then shots that would pierce armor. This skill would reduce the chance of those hits happening. (i think).

I think when your shield gets low damage starts getting through to the armour. Training this skil to a higher level will make the damage only get through when your shield is really low. Hope this is right.

That's right. It isn't a very good bonus, but it does work. |

ahh, my shields either disapear nearly instantly ( wolf ) or not at all ( jaguar ) depending on how I'm tanking so I never noticed lol.

It's really a Gistii Harpy or Hawk skill. Practically worthless for non-Caldari.

It is actually a very useful skill to have for a shield tanker.
The skill reduces the amount of dmg that will seep through into the armor.
I think mines at lvl2 or 3 for when i had my raven and the damage started going into my armor at about 10-15% shield (i think )

I didn't spot this thread or I wouldn't have started another one but to keep things clear here I have a question.
The 5% reduced damage is that per level and does it effect the damage that goes through or the threshold where damage goes through?
In other words if the threshold is 25% does say level 2 in TSM reduce that theshold to 15% or does the threshold stay at 25% and the amount of damage leaking through go to 90% of the normal leakage amount?

Edited by: piercer on 08/08/2005 14:10:04 I think it works as the % of the shield until the damage starts leaking through.
So at the start its at 25% of your shield and the damage will start seeping through into armor.
Lvl 1 = 20% shield lvl 2 = 15% shield lvl 3 = 10% shield lvl 4 = 5% shield lvl 5 = 0% shield
I think thats how it works, would make sense to me.

Yep, I only notice damage leaking through at about 5-8% in that range. I have the skill at level 4. I believe past a certain amount even if you have it at 5 it will still leak. probably around 1-3% because at about the 5%+1-3% I start seeing a leak If I trained this to level 5 I'd assume it woudl lower to 1%-3%
