Well, after over a year of waiting I finally hit on the lottery.
The great irony in all this in that long wait, I've more or less gotten out of manufacturing and into other things
Anyways, my R&D agent has given me the following BPO and I've decided to just sell it and go on a shopping spree
ECM - White Noise Generator II BPO
Auction ends Saturday August 13 @ 24:00 EVE time
15 minute sniper rule
200 mil starting bid (but hidden reserve)
25 mil bidding increments
Escrowed or traded to winner at Jita at end of auction, depending on winner's preference
No buyout for now. Don't have a clue as to what it's worth, but if anyone knows what other BPO's in a similar demand/value range have sold for at auction or by buyout and let me know, I'll try to come up with a buyout price with a fair (but not exhorbitant) premium to the BPO's value.
Please don't make me real "offer I can't refuse" for now. Just let me know where a buyout should be at and if I get enough such information I will come up with a buyout price that is hopefully fair all around.
Thanks and happy bidding

Your auction is far too long. Make it this Sunday (please). People that are interested will bid. Short auctions get momentum and get bids. Long auctions end on page 86.

Thanks for the bid and thanks for the info. You're right about long auctions and I generally keep mine to 24 hours for 'normal' stuff. But, thought it might be better to go longer on 'special' items like a BPO. Maybe I was wrong. Let me think about your advice a bit and maybe shorten the length.
edited addition: Yes, you're right. Closing date and time will be changed to Monday the 8th at 24:00 EVE time (so people coming back from vacations over the weekend have a chance to get in on it). Original post being changed.

Ah, ok. I didn't see that. Sorry if it seemed I was trying to imply something |

Based on the information I've collected and the pace of the auction itself, I think I have come up with a buyout price that represents what will likely be the high bid + a small premium, basically allowing the person who would be the high bidder anyway to pay a premium and lock it up early.
That said, I could be wrong and my buyout price may be enough of a bargain that two or more of the bidders would be willing to stretch for it. My concern here is that if it is, I want to avoid a situation where someone ends up going "Damn! I should have checked the forum an hour ago." It's one thing to get beaten in an auction because someone managed to post the same bid as you 2 seconds faster. It's another to lose out on an item because you have better things to do than stay glued to the forum 24/7 and din't even have a chance.
So, I am announcing now, that I will post the buyout at the beginning of DT tomorrow. Anyone interested can check then - and then type fast if they decide the want to go that high

The buyout that I have decided on is:
3,000,000,000 (3 billion) isk.
In the event anyone is curious about the rationale, it is:
The information I have been able to collect and the pace of the auction itself, suggests that were the auction allowed to play out to the end, the high bid would eventually come in at 2-2.5 bil. So, the buyout represents my estimated auction value + a ~25% premium for the 'certainty' of getting it.
