Hi guys, i just purchased a bookmark set for my region. It totalled 840 bookmarks. Now i want them put into people and places. So i drag them over etc etc. The problem is that it takes almost 2 hours to convert them all across. I am wondering if anyone has found any tricks to do this faster. It is absolute hell doing it, and i still have to drag 840 bookmarks to my alt, to do it all over again.
Thanks in advance. Ricdic ------------------------------------------ Dreadnought Production INC is recruiting Join DPI Channel Or Visit (IGB) http://www.mmorpg-online.net/intro.html |

I assume you are dragging them over one at a time. If you are, I would suggest that instead you click on the top bookmark with your cursor and then hold down the shift key before clicking on the bottom bookmark. This will select them all. Then drag the whole lot across in one go. It will still take a few minutes but not 2 hours !!
If you are copying from your people & places folder you do the same thing only in smaller groups (of about 40 bookmarks) because I have experienced problems copying larger numbers of bms at the same time.
Hope this helps. Personally I think it would make life a lot easier if you could simply copy a folder rather than the contents.
Good luck.

Edited by: Ricdic on 06/08/2005 11:59:32 Yeh i was holding shift and copying the whole 840 at once. Will try doing batches :) Thanks
Edit: Ok i took your advice, but it doesnt seem to be going much faster. 40 bm's still take a coupla minutes to import/export.
Do you think if i pressed copy then relogged , it would work? ------------------------------------------ Dreadnought Production INC is recruiting Join DPI Channel Or Visit (IGB) http://www.mmorpg-online.net/intro.html |

The more BMs you have total, the longer it will take. Recently I cleared out all my bookmarks and they only take about 0.5s to copy or move now. ^_^

Well it doesn't help much but you can always start the copying before going afk to do something else for a couple hours

Edited by: Glandor on 06/08/2005 20:25:47 I find that it isn't the number of bookmarks that slows it up, it is a combination of the number of bookmarks on the top level (out of folders) and your buffer settings in prefs.ini.
Having no folders also causes significant delays in using the right click menu in space to bring up the locally available bookmarks.
Going into the prefs.ini in the ccp/eve/cache folder and changing the buffers from the default 80 to half your ram really helps with bookmarks and opening over-full cargo containers as well. I changed mine to 400, as i have a gig of ram. Huge difference in a bunch of things, the mid-warp screen freeze also went away.
