The 13k barrier broke last night.
13422 is the new record. 14K is the next barrier

barring the patch next week and ongoing server downtimes - we should hit 14k by mid september then 15k by mid october.

Seems it's always the same: when new player records are made, the whole universe ends and starts several times and, training time, drones, deals, and playtime is lost. Let us all hope, that no more players get into EVE.

With setting this new record of over 13k players does it really count since the server kicked off a few thousand players after reaching that. I mean come on for it to count should it have to be stable for everyone, or at least have that many players on for more than a few seconds....I think the marketing department got a hold of the numbers

I wonder what is the record amount of players playing at the same time with no problems. 2000?

It is quite a feat to support several thousand people on a server. While Eve is setting its new records, and gaining a larger playerbase, CCP will undoubtibly upgrade the Eve server as they can, allowing it to run stable with larger amounts of players until we simply needs shards (god I fear that day).
I have rarely noticed any problems when large amounts of players are on. The biggest issue I've come across was I'd have to click a few extra times on an agent mission to accept it, but that's no biggie. I was on when it broke 13k (as a trial account), hopefully I'm on when it breaks 14k, and 15..etc.

more players can lead to more minor problems - lets hope this patch is done sooner than later and its reasonable.

HAH! I was so rigth! Read the Dev Blog. " A number of players have noticed an increase of lag over the recent weeks and an increasing number of node deaths have been occurring. Stuck petitions have been on the rise and overall playability in high traffic systems has suffered as a result. The forums have been disabled at random times and the character sheet function is no longer available.
What happened? A combination of things, but mostly, EVE has been victimized by its own success. "
Ok, everyone, keep quiet about EVE. If EVE gets anymore players, it will be bad for all of us.

Over 16100 two days ago. One of my corp mates logged in and said that there were 15998 users online. Our reaction was: 'Let's bring our alts online!'
