Any ship that is better than the one you are hunting.

Personally - I would go for the BlackBird due to the large array of med slots. ---------------- ~= Askari =~

I love how these wannabe bounty hunter noobs ask this, like they're going after just another NPC pirate....

Edited by: Joshua Calvert on 21/07/2003 20:34:45 Two ships are a must if you're hunting someone.
A blackbird and a decent battle cruiser (Moa/Thorax/Maller) is the best combination.
If you have some good information and know which ship your prey is hunting you can equip your blackbird specifically to lock him down but it's just as easy to give yourself a blanket jamming setup.
Here's some kit you'll need on your Blackbird.
Gallente Ion Field Projector I = -6 Magnetometric, -2 to rest Minmatar Phase Inverter I = -6 LADAR, -2 to rest Caldari Spatial Destabilizer I = -6 Gravimetric, -2 to rest Amarr White Noise Generator I = -6 RADAR, -2 to rest
First Option
Equip 1 of these each, set them to autorepeat, and you can lock down any cruiser ship of any race.
As expected, this will prevent him targetting you and your friend while you use a warp jammer and webifier. This effectively traps him at your mercy - unless he, of course, has ECCM modules equipped
The cap usage is a factor but if your battlecruiser is good (and you equip some projectiles) you can easily destroy him before your cap gets too low.
You're also prevented from warping for 30 seconds with this setup and you can't jam another ship for those 30 seconds.
Second Option
Another option is to equip 3 ECM Multispectrals alongside the webifier, warp jammer, and maybe a cap booster in the 3 free slots.
This gives you a -4 to all sensor types and 3 of those will stop the prey from targetting you]. As above, set them to autorepeat, warp jam and webify while you both pound away with your guns.
Both options f*ck up his targetting for all ships he has locked.
I personally find the 2nd option more preferrable because you can face more than one ship (swap the cap booster for a sensor booster and you can merrily sit there targetting a ship, activating the ECM Multispectrals which makes the target lose all his targets, and then move onto the next ship. This gives your allies an advantage in getting a few free shots per ship.
This info comes from a combat expert in my corp.
You can get a Blackbird for 2.4M isk these days and the modules shouldn't cost you more than a couple hundred thousand isk.

How else are they going to learn? What the hell do you know anyway?
I'm sick of people picking on the noobs. We were all there once, and we shouldn't be ****heads to those who are there now.

Don't bother with pirate hunting. Right now the odds are too heavily staked towards the pirates. First you have to find your target, which is already extremely hard to do. When you do find them they'll most likely fly high-end ships loaded with all sorts of rare PK goodies. And in the rare occasion that you do encounter one where you stand a chance they'll run/dock like cowards. Not worth the trouble.
I'm still hoping that CCP will address these PvP (although PK is a more fitting term right now) issues some time soon, but I'm rapidly losing faith. ---

I think the Bounty System is just perfect :) you just have to know where to look and how to do the job. I got 15mil on a bounty a week ago, and it was fun. -

You nabbed a 15m bounty? ****, I was either drunk or asleep! Who did you get?
I've got to start paying more attention. ):

Considering the only bounties that high are for Lord Zap and other infamous individuals, I think his 15 mil bounty is a load of crap to give hope to potential bounty hunters.
The thin blue line lies here. What side are you on? |

who said i did one of the public bounties? there are some smart people that consider "public bounties" as a form of reward to the target, which it is. It's much smarter to hire a private bounty hunter to kill someone and then trade the bounty for the corpse/screenshot of death. If you look around a bit you can see a lot of people that want other people dead, but dont want to put a public bounty or cant put one because of positive security rating.
As for who i killed :) thats confidential. -
