My first guess would be: Do you have any power management enabled on your computer? Second one would have to do with how you connect to the internet (ie dialup or PPPoE DSL that could be timing out on you, too)?

I have that problem too; just switched to cable broadband and a wired router, and I'm timing out after 2-3 minutes as well.
You mentioned Power Management, I'll try that and see if I have something set badly there. What could be happening there?

I had the same problems at one time with the same type of setup as yours. What did it for me was updating the routers firmware. Hope this helps you :)

I have the same problem sometimes I can run it all night with no problem, other times i`ll be docked, or in the middle of deadspace mission and webbed, and it CTDs. I know if I dont do something about it I will loose a ship to this and noone has a 100% answer.
Last night I left the system running without the sound, it ran fine. (But may have been a good day) - So I tried installing a new sound card, I hear that sound drivers in this can cuase an issue.
The rest of my setup is as follows Asus a7n8x (Nforce2) with Barton 2500, 1GB RAM (3200) ATI 9800 - Tried updated drivers (Using Omega now) 1 MB DSL connection with Linksys router. - firmware is upto date. (cannot provide exact version)
Reinstalling the client and clearing cache seems to have no effect. I think the problem is a server side problem somewhere as I ve tried changing my drivers doesnt help. I have had this problem more since the new patch. NEVER used to happen before exedus.
Hope this info could be useful and someone can suggest something to try ?

I am having the same problem whereby my client CTD's for no apparant reason. I run without sound atm, I have however noticed it only started happening after the Cold War Patch. I beleive that it may be an issue with ATI cards as it is happening to other people I know who run ATI cards. As it happens I am upgraded to a shiny new Nvidia card next week so if it makes any difference I will post here.

ok , i can test that thoery
I have an old 5200 kicking around, I can stick that in the system and see if it is ATI firstly.
I have changed my onboard and switched to SBlive pci card now. (Nice card - much better sound quality)
- Using the omega drivers on standard clock speed, I have had the cats installed also. Used to work fine with my 9600 pro (now using 9800 pro)
- Seems to happen more often when I am outside station although it has happened when I have been docked.
- Other than this I will try a fresh install on my second machine. will isolate if its this hardware or my router
- My connection is Linksys WRT54GS speedbooster, excellent signal strengh loses no packets. (According to utility) I have just upgraded this to version 4 (20/07/05) of the new firmware
firmware was the last change I made. No crash in the last hour, BUT like I say can go for ages... Will report back here if it solves the problem,
if anyone else can help would be appreciated

firmware upto didnt fix it.
Looks like I am either trying newer vga drivers again or running it on my other system to rule out a ram issue

dont know if this has actually fixed the problem.
I swapped wireless network cards, the one I have installed now if a newer version of the Beklin. I seem to be be getting full signal.
Could have been dropping due to problems with WLAN. will need to keep testing though
