Lots of roids out there with 3-10 ore in each. I.e. 3 units of bistot per roid. Seems to apply to *all* kinds of ore. |

Edited by: BSOD on 21/07/2003 19:09:18 Yup. Applies to all ore.
After a roid is depleted, when it respawns, it will have only a small amount of ore. From 1k of scord down to 3 bist. These have been called "babyroids". Some have claimed that these "babyroids" will grow, but it's been confirmed that once one of these babies spawn, it will stay at its current size until it is depleted.
It seemed like the bug was fixed (we got a good respawn near the end of the week), but it came back Sunday morning. The "babyroids" are back.
Greeble, as "Polaris BugHunter Lead", you should know about this and not need to ask for more details, considering that there have been 5-6 threads on the issue and even Pann knows about it and has acknowledged that it is a bug. ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |

Dman! Its a bug and not meant to be like this? Could someone please give me the thread adress where Pann acknoledge it as a bug, please?
was rather hoping it would be a slow "growth" of astroids rather then the surplus we expering now. :(

How am I meant to know specifically which bug he's talking about if he's not detailed?
Of course I'm aware of the behaviour of asteroids in current builds. From reading the initial post, though, it's not possible to know whether he's talking about asteroids that appear physically tiny ("Hell, is he talking about a new graphical defect I hadn't heard about?"), or asteroids that have small quantities of ore in them ("I guess he's talking about the known issue about asteroid content growth, but I guess I'll make sure"), or asteroids modelled like small cars sporting the BMW brand and a humourous line of TV advertising ("He found a dev taking the ****? Where?? ").
Help us by being specific when you post threads like this, and we'll (do our best to) help you by telling you what we know. Which, unfortunately, isn't much more than you do - we're not any more privy to a patch roadmap than you are.
You might be surprised to know that 95% of the bug reports we get are similar to this thread, in terms of useful details. We still have to read the things to know to delete them, though.

to Greeble:
the Babyroid Bug is well known by Pann
but he says also that the programmer responsible for that peace of code is sick.
This info is about 2 weeks old and in the actual patch preview is nothing said about the roids so i think, the coder is always sick and we have to wait a least another 2 weeks for the next patch until we have bug free roids!

Rude?
There was no insult thrown out there. Pann's old response that the person responsible for asteroid code was out sick was perfectly acceptable for a few days. But it's gone far past that point with no further feedback. Most likely it's either it's still not being handled or it is and nobody is bothering to update the current issues dialog. Either way it can be fairly criticized by players. |

now there's an event.
You are in a maze of twisty little asteroids, all alike. |

I don't think it's a bug.. Maybe more like a way to let you know what the belt has to offer when it's fully stocked.
You see.. I've found the baby roids in Belt 1, came back three days had a fully stocked belt, stripped named belt of all precious ores, then came back to clean up the omber a couple days later, and the belt had several baby roids in it again nStuff.
I'm pretty sure that said belt will have more of the goods when it's fully restocked again.

Problem is that it's been confirmed that the roids do NOT grow.
We did get lucky with a full respawn happening near the end of last week, but the respawn on Sunday was another "babyroid" one. So the bug seems intermittent now. ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |

It does look as if its a problem with a new 'set' of roids features. The original babyroids effected noobe space as well as the the rest of the name. At the moment noobe regions are seeing a near complete respawn, while the reports here would indicate other areas are not.

It's been a week. And belt one in our area is still baby (all respawn roids have less than 1000 units in them, scor, veld, pyro etc) We have slowly mined out the first 3 belts in our system. We have 4 left, but they are going fast under the strain of cruiser production.
Forget the fact our Crokite system is useless now....
I did not see any mention in the new patch info about this being fixed.
Any word? ---------------------------------------

BTW, that growing idea is stupid. Our were jacked for months (all babies roids no matter what we mined) until last week when something happened and every belt respawned full. I think it's back to be jacked up again. So what ever they did the other day was cool.... ---------------------------------------

once upon a time in beta and early live all roid fields were sort of manually restocked, about once a week at downtime (same day even) then later they seemed to try to add this new system where roids grow .. now it either isnt behaving quite as expected and/or players arent behaving as expected. But then I suspect its rare either does for any game programmer still it seems to be a little better than it used to be lately ? . ----- Apologys for any rambling that may have just occurred.
