I killed at least 70 (30-40k) pirates yesterday and my security rating did not go up AT ALL. I was never getting the message saying my rating had been improved after killing each one either. Is this a problem with many others?

My security rating has never gone above .1 and I have never had a negative security rating. Not that I am a massive pirate hunter but I have made 700k in 2 days off of 8 to 20 k pirates. My security rating has changed (i can see this in the corp section) but it moves really slowly I really dont know how other have got their sec up to 5.x etc... I would like to know if they just kill rats all day every day. I have done naughty things as well like firing missiles at jumpgates just experimenting tho. Huh ? who wants a cool sig anyway... sigs are lame and so am I cos I cant be arsed using Paint Shop Pro |

Most of the people with high sec got it there before CCP lowered the gains on sec for killing pirates.

and most of *those* people are pirates who now kill in 0.0 space, thus ensuring CONCORD lubs them.

70 cruisers - thats about:
+0.0007 to sec rating
Get your Corp CEO to tell you your exact sec-rating (its displayed in member details - not sure if you can get too those yourself without CEO access - anyway its about 12 digits long or something equally mad)
After x weeks ive just crawled from 9.6 to 9.7 - to be honest, don't worry aobut it , I have a distinct feeling that there will a sec-wipe at some point, or at least a major sec-rating alteration, via the Agent cap needs and various other agent/faction re-adjustments required in the game.
Certianly I do not expect too keep my sec rating as it is now.

One day I went from a 4.2-4.5 sec status so it can be done. Then again I did kill 243 pirates so that could help out a little (some 20k, some more 30-40k, but mainly 50k cruisers).
Ah and the fundage from this even oh so great.

It DOES rise, however slowly. I've been running as combat escort and npc pirate hunting in my battleship for weeks now. Finally I increased from 9.9 to 10.0, so it apparently still works, just at a glacial pace.
*I had a rating of 9.7 or so back at the time of the patch that made security status gain from pirates almost negligible.

Assuming a gain of only .20000000...1 (if you were at 4.299999999999...) this would mean killing 243 pirates those cruisers would need to give:
0.0008230 Each.
My **recollection** on 40k is 0.0003 each, on 20K 0.0002.
I am at 7.64764418489 and I have been 7.6 for at min 2 patches most likely 3.
I spent a day (~4 hours) in a 4 30k and 1 40K spot (mainly killing the 40k (beast) - I'd kill the 40k first, then kill 30s till respawn and pull the 40k etc.
Still 7.6, this is typical of many of my outings. Other times are slower with 20s and 30s but in any event I KNOW it goes up (I have gone up from 7.4xxxxxxxx to current 7.6 prior to 3 patches ago, however it goes up a wee bit slow. Not necessarily an ored of magnitude is needed but some adjustment - I won't suggest as I don't have the statistics of sec gains since nerf or their plan for what secs represent.
Personally, I would have 'liked' it better had they lowered all sec to 0.0 with that patch (I was at 7.7 then ya...smartbombs took me to 7.4) but that it too late now.
Unless they LOL had records of gains since and reset ppl to 0.0 and added the gains...ya...right. Of course if they never intend sec rating 10.0 to MEAN anything who cares - if they do - it is ridiculous for the avg player to reach it and anyone who did rats at all could have had it if they played as much or even a bit less than me. Having been a big rat hunter in beta - I went to try and concentrate on Agents to avoid burnout - oops (I had sec 7.2 by third week's close toooooo easy)

You do gain security status, however at a much slower rate then before. I like it the way it is now
It prevents people from podding and getting a low sec rating and getting up VERY quickly (as was before) and it also allows for those who truly do good to get a higher security status which will mean something (bounty hunter license)
so this way not everyone will be flying around with a 10.0 rating just because they killed a 100 hunters ------------------------------------------- If you kill them, they will die!
