Due to the number of trolls, no "casual" conversation is possible.....
You need to follow other's advice and create you're own channel, and invite people to it.
The single biggest danger to EVE is the proliferation of ALTS! Kill an alt today!
Petition for a Minimum bounty of 10 mil. Prevent useless bounties!

Confirming that logging into exploration chat that Mio often never shut's up. Infact I'm going to say, no matter alliance, corp or player type you are, logging into Exploration just for some NSA interaction is good.
It's better than entering a new corp and not knowing what to say to people because you just feel at ease. Sometimes people chat sh!t, sometimes its vent rage time but mostly quite fun.
Got communication issues or are shy or feel like no-one wants to talk to you ? Go to the "Exploration" channel :D

It's only awkward if you let it be awkward. I have a chat with a whole bunch of my friends in it & we just chat. None of them are in the CFC, but it's not like we casually chat about our alliances plans or anything. You have the tools available, use them.
Apparently booking your flight & accomodation to Iceland BEFORE you buy the tickets for the convention which is pretty much the only reason you wanted to go there in the first place is popular. |

Nothing of the kind. It was a valid question, you just simply didn't have the information available to you to figure it out yourself.

To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors.
If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

I didn't know about setting up private chat channels for at least a month after starting, or how to friend people/avoid the pop up dialog for like three months, there's a lot going on in this game :)

You know what, I actually think this is a large part of why Eve is so anti-social (outside of close knit groups like friends/corp).
Some kind of /tell command might be nice, assuming it's toggle-able of course. |
