Fitted a passive targeter and cargo/ship scanners to test it out. I simply clicked the icon for the module then clicked the ship I wanted to passively target. Seems I am alerting them to my targeting, as everyone I target targeted me back. Was I doing something wrong in activating the passive targeter? Sometimes after the countdown for the target acquisition it appeared that the target painter went to inactive not sure why.

Stupid question: You're actually using a passive targeter correct? You'd mentioned a target painter at one point in the initial post.

Passive targeters only work for one target per module, and the enamy sees your lock the instant you activate any module on them

Meant Passive targeter, the target painter reference was a fruedian slip.
Didn't know that about activating the module on them, in a few cases might have been the scanner that alerted them. Will do a little more testing, thanks for the info.

A scanner is not a hostile module. They wont be able to see you scanning them. They can probably hear it though. They hear the same sound as you. ---=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=---

I may be doing something wrong with the passive targeter then. How exactly does one activate on on a ship?

Passive targetters have only one use: to move massive amounts of Tritanium.
