I would recommend that you start with Pyfa or some other EFT. In game there are not many options to explore what fits are possible. http://eveboard.com/pilot/Ronix_Aideron |

Using the fitting screen is where you customise ships and this is done when docked in any station. Items you put on ships can be seen in your storage area and if you right click on them and show info it will tell you the skills required to use said item.
TBH you are asking such a general question that I would suggest you go have a read of one of the multitude of starter guides and wiki sites that are available. |

If you are on about rigs, you have either 2/3 rig slots in the Fitting Window. Depending on the rigs you want to fit, you will need to have Jury Rigging (found in the Mechanic skill tree), and then depending on what rig you want to fit the requisite skill - you will need Jury Rigging to lvl IV at any rate to get the best value out of it, and to allow you to fit T2 rigs.
You will also need to have Mechanic III to train Jury Rigging.
Physcially customising your ship however (Decals, Spoilers, tinted windows and the like) is currently - and for the foreseeable future - impossible.

I think the OP is talking about customising the appearance of the ships. I do not think you can. It would be cool though to have our own paint jobs and logos on though. Like in Guild Wars 2 and other MMO's |

They call it "V3," referring to an upgraded way of modeling ships in the game, and as you can see in some of the dev blogs or dev responses in General Discussion, they're still going through the process of upgrading ships to this new modeling system. Next in line appear to be Capital Ships.
In any case, they probably need to have all the ship models upgraded before they can turn on player access to color and logo customization options. |

Oh so it is a feature that is going to be in the game? That rocks. Thanks for the Info Merouk.

Sarcasm on... I too want useless paintjobs etc that only will stress the client and server (as it has to load a **** ton of different paintjobs and logos during a fleet fight or in Jita).
And a lot of people zoom out a lot as it gives you a betfer idea of you vs others in 3D space. Sarcasm off
No. Currently there is no way to costumize your ships and as shown I dont see the need for it too. What would be different if your Drake is grey, red or pink... its how it does the job you want it too do.
And likely if they implement it it will be part of the NEX exchange and fall under the cosmetic microtransactions. |

You're also falling into the "if you don't play my way you're playing the wrong way" trap. Not everyone regards this or any other video game as just a lot of statistics, numbers and pixels. To some of us it's a sort of alternative virtual reality and we like to role play, even make up up own roles, or just simply immerse ourselves in the game lore. Ship customisation would help in all of that.
Just because you don't see a point in it doesn't mean there isn't one. |

just saying that I don't see the need for it other then making low end machines blow up again because they can't load grid cause of the high number of special paint jobs it has to load.
Take a 500 vs 500 fleet...say about 75% of the total people have a custom paint job...that's 750 different non default paint jobs that the server and your client has to render...
Start thinking about saving some money for a new GPU then.
And it changes nothing to the game, so it's just wasted Dev time and thus wasted money, which comes from us paying subs. I rather see that Dev time is used to add useful stuff to the game, even if that means some people call me a troll.
I'm totally fine with people playing the game in the way they like, but asking for what (in my opinion) is useless junk.... |

I'm not against the idea or against people who want to have the possibility in game to change the paint of their ship.
I'm against wasting Dev time on something useless that doesn't improve the game itself but will only hurt those people who play on low end machines because their GPUs can't handle the vast number of different paints to load. Which will mean that people with lower end machines will have lag issues when loading grid, die before they even loaded grid and thus quit playing the game....
The idea: Nice. Personally will love it. The practical use of it: Not existing The problems: Killer for lower end machines.
Verdict: Don't do it (at the moment). |

Because in MMO's people like customization. The fct that it took EVE damn near 10 years to FINALLY get full bodied avatars is insane.

You can get slightly different variants of the ships you fly, but the colours and visual construction are pretty much set in stone for now. As an example, if you don't like the Vexor you can choose the Ishtar or Vexor Navy Issue, both of which are subtly different to the Vexor itself. Check the "Show Info" for the ship and see what different versions are available under the "Variations" tab.
T3 ships ("Strategic Cruisers") can be customised to some extent by using different subsystems. Look at the skills required to get into a Legion, Proteus, Loki or Tengu.
As has already been said, you're stuck with the colours that CCP has defined.

First: it is entirely possible to have customisation that doesn't punish the client. Rendering could start with a stock model, with customisation such as different paint colours being turned on only if the frame rate is above a limit defined by the user. The usual strategy of "zoom out until frame rate is acceptable" applies.
Second: having custom paint jobs does improve the game itself for people who want to express themselves through means other than words on the forums or names on a killboard. Just because they place value in features that you don't value doesn't mean they should be ignored. World of Warcraft now has "transmogrification" which allows you to make a piece of equipment look like some other piece of equipment: having your mage's high-tier raiding armour look like black mageweave is apparently popular, and people are paying premium prices for low-level leather and plate armour which typically falls into the "chain mail bikini" category, because higher level armours for female characters tend to be more modest. Visual customisation of the in game character is important to many people, and they will spend lots of money on it.

Thanks Do the tutorial. That will solve the first problem. I didn't understand the second question. Which what is the skill limitation of what? "Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats." -H.L. Mencken |

Dont do it all the time. Some people just cant take critisism or ask weird (as I state that there are no stupid questions, but lately begin to question that statement) questions.
Last couple of months I've just seen a decline in the intelligence of the new EVE players here on the forums. No offens but half the questions are easy answered if the poster actually tried to use a search engine (google or these forums). And a portion of the otherquestions are just "weird" or whining about stuff like random bounties or other working as intended mechanics. |

Yea it does get old when you see the same group of easily searched questions pop up. I don't mind elaborating on a topic that somebody has clearly already researched or helping with something that is hard to find current info on but some of these problems are too common to warrant a new thread.
Honestly if I'm going to post in half these topics I check to see if you posted already because its usually pretty close to what I was going to say and saves me the trouble.
