Since last patch I've been experience UI response issues. Multiple failure to execute mouse clicks, slow response in overview, and hangs in action. All started after patch and on two different installs.
Anyone else?

Yep, been happening quite a bit lately, but I don't play much, so I didn't really think anything of it.

I've been noticing it a bit during mission salvage. I thought it was due to mission salvage generally being not great and running through a wifi network temporarily.
I suppose it's plausible. DirectX 11, it's not rocket appliance! |

I experienced this 2 days ago. I also had a small issue at the time where my ESC key would not respond. That was very interesting. I was spamming it and it finally came up. But everything seems to be fine now. |

There have been very few changes in those patches so I find this odd.
Stupid question: is your mouse perhaps low on battery? (I know some people have had an issue with that).

Does that happen every time you open Notifications and Log? I can't think of any reason why that should take long, it doesn't load with anything in it, right? And that is new? I wonder if you are getting an error or something, maybe best to file a bugreport on it CCP karkur | User Interface Programmer | Team Pony Express | @CCP karkur |

I have to say when playing on Monday 4th I was running missions and thought it was lag (even though that never happens) that my modules were taking a few presses of f1 to activate. thought it was me at first but there was indeed some kind of lag with the UI.
I have not been on enough tonight to test so I'll test again tomorrow |

Nope, new batteries. And key actions lag as well

Had same issue on Monday, thought it was lag or a background process messing my machine up (PC gets slow when my antivirus is running), but it wasnt. Was running two clients, one was salvaging and the other was doing missions.
FPS was normal but it was taking me 2-5 seconds to activate a module ( clicked atleast 4 times).
Alt-Tab just froze the client i was tabbing from. Thought it was just my machine or lag. Havnt had the issue since then though.
And my mouse corded so it wasnt batteries |

I wonder if you are getting an error or something, maybe best to file a bugreport on it I cannot tell you since when, but the old log was a lot faster. The log is almost always full unless I have just logged in.
Same with standings. They, too, freeze up my client for 2 seconds.
I also stopped making bug reports. Occasionally I still do, but it is less now. Some stuff just seems as if it was left unfinished on purpose and I cannot be bothered with reporting what will very likely be known by the one who left it like this. You also close reports (unsolved) faster than in the past and I will not reopen what you have closed. When you do not consider it worth fixing will I not consider it worth reporting. There are endless similar problems....Opening a hanger or can with lots of items can hang the game for 5-10 secs sometimes.
Opening the graph on an item will sometimes just hang and never actually open the graph.
And I just replaced my mouse batteries, it didn't help.
EVE is dropping data from the client. The reason I suspect this is, I recently bought a Razer keyboard to simplify some tasks. I noticed that with a macro, the issue never comes up, it works every time.
A common problem I have noticed is flying cloaked. You jump a gate, hit D and then wait a half second and hit cloak. Cloak refuses to engage, because the command D, never got there. Even when it does respond, response time can vary from .2 secs to almost a second. With a macro, it works flawlessly, every time, even when I cut the delay between keys to well under what would normally work. I assume the keyboard is somehow recognizing when the game accepts/reacts to a keystroke, and/or sends it until it does. then sends the next.
Is a macro keyboard required for EVE now?
It's a very handy tool, but I'm not sure I care for the fact that it's required to get the game to respond properly....

This lack of responsiveness has appeared recently, it was around the time Jita started to be perma-TiDi, I was going to do a conspiracy post about stealth TiDi running but without the visible indicator.
Anyone that uses the market interface alot will be experiencing this ten-fold, its become quite unpleasant with the unresponsiveness of mouse clicks. If you are a market user you may also of noticed that when you click the tab / item to update so you can see your amended price ect the expire times update but new information isn't polled as quickly as it used to be so sometimes it takes 2 clicks to make it poll fresh info. So now we have a 4 second poll time? and sometimes we have to click it 2-3 times to force the poll, makes me cry a lil.
Most transitions from system to system appear to be taking longer.
When I enter a new system and get underway with my journey, I activate my cloak and it will say I still have anywhere between 1-5 seconds before I can activate and its taking ages to get through the gates. I'd say prior to recently I very Very VERY rarely experienced this.
In general I would say things have slowed down, and it seems to be everything from opening containers, to populating lists to the speed at which modules activate, even the speed at which dialog boxes are drawn to screen appears slow, you can almost see some stuff happening in slow motion.
Hence the TiDi conspiracy idea.
Fly safe. o7 Its broken and its been broken for a long time and it'll be broken for some time to come. |

Concerning the Log, was doing a 6/10 with the log open and it sometimes just froze( the log i mean- and i had more than 12 BS on my ass, so there was a lot to be logged), then it goes blank, then refreshes and starts working.
Also, the overview takes longer than usual to update. What i mean is, you pop an npc ship but its still in the overview 2 secs later. |

just realized that this could be the reason of my loss yesterday when i got caught and killed on acceleration gates. Ship just didn't want to start warp for some moment....
or (and this is more likely) this is because i'm bad

I have been looking into this today, and I cannot repro... if you have any solid repro steps, then please share them with me.
Regarding the logger... I just changed it in Retribution 1.1. so the logs are not cleared on session change. What that means that if you have the logger showing 1000 message, once you get that many messages it will always show 1000 messages. It is a bit heavy to adjust that many lines, so I would recommend you turning it down to 100 messages. CCP karkur | User Interface Programmer | Team Pony Express | @CCP karkur |

Curious mind would like to ask why you made it 'heavier'? I always found it a (tiny little) bit annoying that my logs erased them selfs after a session change, but if not makes things more sluggish, then I rather go with the smooth experience. |

I'm also considering adding the option to clear it manually. If you find yourself wading into that code, consider adding an option to "trim log to last X entries on session change." Have X default to something reasonable for the majority of players (IYHO).

Confirming non-responsive UI buttons also in wormholes. Has been happening since Retribution 1.0 for me. Click 'jump through wormhole' button. Nothing happens. I thought it was some sort of error with the command not reaching the server. It happens randomly, and seems to be occurring when the client is handling multiple i/o tasks. It's worst inside a POS with multiple players swapping ships, accessing hangars, etc. |

I've been getting similar issues with random windows. It's happend with the overview, chat windows, loot, windows, character sheet. Quite annoying, the only way to fix it is to close the window completely. But for a window like the inventory merged in with the station panel. You have to completely disable it or re-log.
For windows like your corp/alliance window. Re-log.

CCP karkur, maybe the change described here has something to do with this issue?

If the client is doing extra work behind the scenes, it could be slowing down its response to the user. Maybe all that is needed is to insure those threads that deal with the user have higher priority so the user does not get slowed down. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |
