I fly gallente atm, but would like to try another race's ships. I was going to do caladari, but I guess they got hit kind of hard. I could learn EW and go for a scorp.. but was thinking amarr because lasers are cool 
I know some of you 40 million SP people can fly every ship and use every t2 weap, but for the more common 2 ship type people.. what kinds do you fly?

I start with gallente/cadari but have no moed to gallente/amaar, lasers are just cool now and why I still like missles thought it was best to keep concentrating on gunnery rather than train the new missle skills.

I fly all frigates of every race, which is nice and I would suggust it if you have some training time to spare.
Gallente/Minmatar for larger ships though.

Minmatar with a splash of Gallente (mainly for Angel ships).
But I like Amarr too (and the sexah Blood Raider ships)

I CAN fly all t1 ship but amarr cruisers and battleships, minmatar and amarr interceptors and assault frigates..
Most of the time, however, I fly a dominix or wolf.

What's special about minmatar ships? Caladar have the EW missle thing shield tanking, gallente are hybrid gunships/drones armour tank and extra hull hp, amarr are lasers and ??, minmatarr are projetile.
Question about lasers and projectile, how are their falloff/tracking/ whatever range use compared to gallente?

not sure what your all trained up in but I would try to build upon what you have if your going to try to fly another race ships.
ie I assume your trained up in gunnery and armor tanking. Caldari use neither.
Amarr shouldnt take much more than training up lazers and the specific ships.

Up to now, I've considered myself a bit of a failed Caldari, making do with only average shield/missile skills mainly due to my love affair with all thing laser. So I concentrated on maxing all gunnery skills/laser spec and armor repairing along with related skills. However nowdays I'm finding relying on em/therm damage a little limiting and so am ploughing through as much of the shield tanking/missile skills as possible - it would probably have been easier if I'd gone for another race such as gallente where i could make use of most of the turret/armor skills but it just felt wrong to ignore my caldari roots. I can now fly all T1, plus ceptors, cov ops/bombers, assault frigs and the HACs for both races but until my shield/missile skills are up to scratch, I'll hold on the raven and Cerberus.
My other main character however is a total Gallente dronefreak - Gallente BS V, Heavy Assault V, every T1 drone skill to V - there's something insanely good fun about flying an Ishtar or Dominix into a situation and unleashing 15 heavy drones and the setup variations are endless.
The one race I have yet to take beyond frigate class (gotta love the probe for cheap transport) are the Minmatar ones - above frigate class, the ships nor projectile weapons simply don't appeal to me. Perhaps one day.. but probably not.

gal/minmatar or caldari/amarr, the rp side of eve is spliting like this and the faction pirates are split like this.
i would sujest you go minmatar.

I pretty much always fly Gallente. I can use Amarr and Caldair ships but I only used them for a time. I'm a pretty pure Deimos pilot.

I'm currently training up minmatar ships (=<bs). When I'm done (and no new min stuff has been released to train for), I'm gonna go Gallente, coz the ish's and the domi are sexay.

All Caldari ships excepting Logistics and Elite Industrials. Maybe some time I'll put the week into getting Logistics, but right now, I'm more considering putting 21 days into getting Gallente HACs to make good use of my Tech 2 Medium Rails and Blaster Specialization. My Eagle and Cerb just aren't cutting it in the HAC department I'm afraid.
After Gallente HACs I'll probably spread out into their line of ships. At least I can put my rail skills to good use with them... that and I've always wanted to fly a Megathron...

Though it says Caldari I'd say I'm from the Khanid since I pilot both Amarr and Caldari ships of all types except HACs. I like sansha ships so I think I picked a good mix. w00t

if your gal you mine as well atleast train for a harpy since most of your skills will transfer for it and its a pretty good AF, also the crow isn't as bad as some make it out to be

claw/taranis for inties, wolf/ishkur for assaults, thorax/rupture/stabber for cruisers, Vaga for HAC, Tempest for PVP apoc for NPC

im caldari, but i primarily fly amarr, like the geddon and zealot. even tho i have 30M+ skill points i cant fly everything. i cant fly anything past a probe for minmatar, or past an exequror for gallente.
however, my fav t1 frig, for now at least, is an incursus.

If you already have good skills at flying gallente ships, then go for amarr. Most of the secondary skills required are the same. The only extra skills you will need are the laser and ship skills. You should have armor, cap and gunnery skills from your gallente training already.

Minmatar/Gallente.
If you can fly Minmatar, you can fly anything. Armour tank, shield tank, guns, missiles, drones.
Just EW to go and most people have the basics in that.

only got BS levels in gallente/minmatar.
but I can fly all the frigs/intys/cov ops/AF's that exist in EVE.
Still there's room for improvement. My next goal is T2 drones and to achieve 10 drones in the ishkur , after that, I'll move to HAC's (all races).
I also am thinking in specialize in 1 racial BS, but that will only be in the horizon when T2 BS'es will be released (altho a T2 'phoon is somewhat my dream )

Gallente 100% these days, thou i can fly all caldari and amarr tech1 ships.
Nothing beats Gall HACs for pure fun and the taranis is teh uber. Having a rax as backup cruiser is also pretty sweet

I fly Minmatar only although I used to fly Caldari t2 frigs and Amarr BS. Can't fly Gallente BS but I have large hybrid skill trained to 2.

I do love how at the begining of this year everyone was complaining how much gal sucked. now its a favorite of many, and all they changed was some slight power and cpu requiremnts on guns. nothing huge. (that and nerf the other two most popular races in some way or another)

I usually fly Caldari and Minmatar, though I can fly Amarr.
I enjoy missiles - though not quite as much since the nerf - which is why I fly Caldari. The Raven's an excellent ship to make money in and, with the right setup, can gank the hell out of someone at point-blank range at the same time it tanks their damage output. Scorpion's nasty for PvP but has a low damage output (though you don't need much damage output if your target can't shoot back... ). Harpy's one of the best assault frigs in the business and is a nasty customer, indeed.
For minmatar, I like it for both the burst damage and the ability to switch damage types with projectiles. Sure, Caldari have this, too, with missiles, but missiles don't get instant damage, limiting them to short-range attacks to be effective vs. other players. A group of tempests working in concert can kill a battleship in one volley, where it would take the same group of megathrons several volleys each to kill the target - the drawback, however, is that they refire more slowly to compensate.

I can fly All Battleships, Cruisers, Frigates. I can fly Minmatar AS, HAC, CoVOps. I can fly Amarr and Minmatar Industrials. I spend the majority of my time in a Munnin, Tempest and Wolf these days. My second account is a Caldari specialized in Caldari ships, missiles and eWar.
My favorite ships are the Dominix, Machrael, Tempest, Munnin/Vagabond, Typhoon, Megathron, Wolf. I am seriously considering training Gallente Cruiser to 5 for a Deimos for angel hunting.
edit : I love Caldari battleships equally with a Typhoon.
