Know something that will bring you to over one million subscribers? EVE TV series. Same production values of Battlestar Galactica.
Story? One or two years before, and leading to events in Empyrean Age. You make people care about your universe and deliver the Empyrean Age content in the final season, you get a blockbuster TV series. Empyrean Age is THAT good.

Not really. But if they scrap these now, they can start working on a TV series instead of having to wait 2 years until DUST and WoD are over and released.
Besides, if they ever release these then we might one day have WoD people asking for a TV series which would indeed take away resources from the EVE tv series, and we would all get right back to where we are today. Now you're talking. It has the potential of being very awesome. Personally though, I would rather see it as a 10 or 12 episode mini-series, rather than a series which goes on and on. if it were to be (x) amount of seasons, they should do like they did for BSG, a limited number of seasons.
Hell yeah, Eve on HD TV as a series!
Ok, which actors would you want to see in it, considering it would be made for TV ?
I'd like to see the likes of Milla Jovovich, Nathan Fillion (from Firefly/Castle), Laurence Fishburne, for starters.
A movie is being made based on Halo, I don't see why Eve shouldn't get some screen-lurv. The door is not real. |

Making a pilot, showing to a studio who will sponsor it, and working on 10 to 12 episodes for a tentative mini-series with 24 episodes? Then picking up and going forward with it if it proves successfull? Look around you, sci-fi series are beginning to pick up steam again.
You show it like it is to the right people, and they are going to be begging to CCP to let them make a TV series. Sometimes the only difference between a budding genius and a blooming idiot is where they chose to take a stand. |

Assuming that this worked (and hey, why not, who would ever have thought that BSG could be remade so successfully) there is one real right now; Incarna would have to be completed first. Nobody would ever play a BSG MMORPG if they could never leave their Viper... |

As much as I would like to see a TV series happen, it can be a pretty big risk. There have been many shows that have failed to connect with a larger audience even though for me personally, I quite enjoyed them.
One example for me was Firefly, which I thought actually got better as it went along, but studio execs believed otherwise.
EVE has all the elements to be like Game of Thrones where political intrigue mixed with action/war is central to the storyline. People that I thought would never like the Game of Thrones TV series actually love it and can't wait for the next season.

Thought on a few.. none that would ask multi million budgets so sorry, no Will Smiths.
Louis Gosset Jr. as Malaetu Shakor
Jacqueline Samuda as Jamyl Sarum
Hugo Weaving as Tibus Heth (ok maybe too high profile.. but he is perfect for the role!)
Carmen Argenziano as Mentas Blaque
Cliff Simon as The Brooker (would be awesome to watch Hugo Weaving and Cliff Simon as characters who work together but despise each other)
James Morrison as Souro Foiritan
Penny Johnson as Karin Midular
Brian Dennehy as Dochuta Karsoth
Marc Alaimo(Gul Dukat from DS9) as Otro Gariushi Sometimes the only difference between a budding genius and a blooming idiot is where they chose to take a stand. |

This is actually a good point I hadn't thought about. Nothing but space-based combat does not a good sci-fi show make, so there'd have to be SOME amount of walking around (especially if the events leading up to the Empyrean Age were those featured in the book), players coming in to check it out would want to be able to take part in that at some level.
I'd watch it. I love this Universe and all the story and lore and characters it entails. Just so long as it was done well by a studio/writers who cared just as much for it. Hell, put the Mercury team on it. |

Yeah, it was a frikken brilliant show! I would love to understand the reasons for it being canned, such a damned pity. The movie was very decent. There was talk at one stage that Fillion might be interested in buying the rights to Firefly, if only that were true.
Making series is a huge risk and there are many failures - one just has to look at SyFy channel to see the rubbish they serve-up there. Problem is budget, always a question of money.
I believe that with a decently written script and outline of what the Eve TV series *could* be would probably bring on board a major studio or two as sponsors. Now we just need the talent of JJ Abrams to write and direct the pilot.

Confirming that epic Amarr TV series with EVE IP would rip the face of Battlestar Galactica and wear it on its funeral (especially considering the awefull, awefull ending of BSG).
I'd like to cast Clarice van Houten as Our Lady Sarum, when she is done in game of thrones.
edit: I love Marc Alaimo(Gul Dukat from DS9), he was an awesome dukat, but would be more suited for an Amarr role ! - [yellow]English only please. Zymurgist[/yellow] |

CCP would love to port to 360 but microsoft has a stupid policy of making game vendors charge full price for expansions which goes against CCP's policy of free expansions.
If you want Eve Online to run on 360 campaign to microsoft about changing their silly policy. |

The American public's reaction to the change was poor and the new cola was a major marketing failure. The subsequent reintroduction of Coke's original formula, re-branded as "Coca-Cola Classic", resulted in a significant gain in sales, leading to speculation that the introduction of the New Coke formula was just a marketing ploy |

I never understood why people are so against a shaking camera. It's designed to make you feel like you are there, not looking through the fourth wall. If you set a camera to record, and go for a brisk walk while recording, you would, without even trying, have produced a shaky-cam shot. Though, while I'm not completely against it, the application of the technique for the space shots was a bit confusing. Still a great show. They could have taken a cue from Farscape. Instead of hardcore clothes-dryer action, make it a slow roll. Cause it's basically like being on a boat. A space-boat.
Anyway, @Guy Grand: good call with HBO. You are definitely right.
@Andski: I don't think being on grid with "600+ dudes" qualifies as being EVERYTHING that happens in EVE. Even for the most alliance oriented player. You, like the most vocal whiners on these forums, inflate every tiny flaw you see as to make it game breaking. In other words: weaksauce. So it goes. |

its a project as big if not bigger than creating EVE itself, and would cost far more money than EVE brings in. CCP is also not a director's studio, it is a game studio. EVE has a very, very tiny fanbase relative to pretty much any TV show's subject, etc etc. What you are asking for is not only impossible, but it would be a dumb move financially and a surefire way to lose millions. All for nothing of value. |

I love these people who think scrapping Dust and WoD is a realistic expectation.
They have poured a ton of money into these games in an effort to diversify their money streams. They are trying to GROW as a gaming company. You do that by making new titles and you put them on different platforms to maximize your potential customers.
I mean seriously, do any of you have business sense? I am hardly a CCP apologist but FFS you people sure think it would just be so easy to throw the switch and lose all of the capital that has been placed in building these games for something entirely different.
Ugh, you people fill my find full of ****. |
